Chicken salad and cookies?  Wow!  Your pouch let's you get that down without problems so early out???  I'm assuming that this is chicken salad made with mayo.  Is that a correct assumption?  Because I'm sure that you did not mean a regular lettuce salad with grilled chicken on top of it.   why?  Because that's a no-no for you as well.  Cracker Barrel is not known for preparing light, fat-free anything.  which means that the chicken salad was probably heavy with full fat mayo. I don't want to sound mean, because if your body can handle it, well I guess that's ok.  But, you aren't very far out, and to be testing the waters so early out with things like chicken salad with the fat laden mayo and oatmela cookies really isn't a good thing.  Even if you made them with Splenda.  The carbs will do you in. And just because you can eat them, does not mean that you should. You really should be taking this honeymoon period to learn the right things to eat, because after 6 months, it's all you and if you haven't got it down by then, you will struggle.  Heck, even those of us who did have it down...we still struggle. But...it is your decision.  I just wanted to point out that this really isn't a good option for newbies.  Just because you can tolerate these things does not mean that you should.

Glad you are finding things to enjoy Brandi and that you have a friendly pouch.  Just think that the chicken salad is something you can make at home, more appropriate for your body, using fat free or low fat mayo.  A little extra fat on occasion isn't terrible but definitely not something to get into the habit of.  One of the hardest parts of this is to get past the cravings and make the right choices.  I sometimes wish I had never tested myself of the sugar issue & either avoided the "sweets" or just stayed with some of the sugar free things so that I wouldn't be struggling now with my sugar eating habits.  Using splenda is a great thing and will help keep you away from all of the sugar stuff.  Sometimes you just have to give in to what you crave.  But what can I say, I am not perfect and don't always make the best decisions for me either.  Have a great day!!!!

Not saying NO here and I apologize if it seems that way.  I understand exactly where you are coming from.  Needing to do things in the household for the kids/hubby etc and for your own sanity.  I love the image of the teeny tiny cookie.  You made good choices by doing oatmeal & splenda, you chose what was the best option that would work & be healthiest (for your family also).  Yes chicken/tuna are great options early out.  Again a good choice for what you had available.  The choices, the habits are part of the big picture for us.  I know you have read and researched, you started working on your habits before you even had surgery, you are a step ahead.  My post was meant to encourage & to show how you can adjust things to fit the needs of surgery & just talk about my own thoughts on my journey.  I do apologize for making you feel like I was criticizing you.

Grilled chicken breast salad (without dressing): 259 calories, 11 grams fat, 10 grams carbohydrates That is the only calorie counter I could find online for cracker barrel. NOW MIND YOU. This is for the BIG salad plate with a couple scoops of the chicken salad on top of a bed of greens, onions, tomatos, boiled egg, colby cheese and sour dough croutons. I didnt order that, I ordered the chicken salad sandwhcih minus bread and instead of the french fries it came with, I had apple sauce and pinto beans.

Good choices Brandi. That seems to be right on track with what our docs and nut at PNH suggest. I remember Dr. Catania saying that a little fat is good for us too. We eat so little of it! Keep sneaking in the protein everywhere you can. Hugs

I have an occasional pancake too. They are much easier on me than bread which I have had trouble with since the beginning. My hubby makes the best restaurant style lighter than air Bisquick pancakes. I also love to eat the cottage cheese pancakes. They are like a crape in my opinion. Today I had a Yoplait Light and Fit strawberry smoothie. I added a sample of Chike Banana protein powder and an ounce of ff milk and crushed ice. Can you say YUMMO??
