The greatest thing that's ever happened to me...

So I posted a few days ago whining about having to do my liver shrinking diet now, 2.5 months out, and how hard it was. And it was and I've been miserable. But one of the responses (hopeforme - I feel bad I don't know her real name) was from a girl who had my same surgeon and said that she was told the sandwich I have had for dinner every night was just a suggestion and that you just had to have a low-calorie dinner. So, the next time I emailed my nut I mentioned this and asked if it was true, even telling her that I knew it was long shot but I thought I should check...she said it was!!!!!!!!!

I have never been so excited in my life to be able to choose my own 300 calorie, low-fat meal. I know that's not a lot of food - and I'll have to be careful to make sure it's not just 300 calories of junk - but......I don't have to eat that stinkin' sandwich for the 8th straight night!!!!!!!!!!! Also, she let me add 2% milk string cheese for my snack so I'm about the happiest girl in the land right now. I was really getting cranky and sad because of how restricted I was to THAT bread and THAT luncheon meat and not being able to eat with anyone else.

Now I can even go out to eat with my friends on Thursday night! (Don't worry, I've been poring over menus and will be very, very careful) I know I have to not let this go to my head but I just want to jump up and down.

Also, I weighed myself for the first time since I started this stinkin' thing today and I've lost 11 pounds. So I feel motivated and ready to give it another week. I knew that not everyone could understand the joy of being able to choose your own 300 calories, but you all would.... I wouldn't have even made it this far without the support I got when I was really down last weekend so thanks a million!

Yay!!  I am sure you are super excited.  Good thing you thought about emailing her.  My dr told me today that since I had lost that 7 1/2 lbs in 6 days, I must be doing something right so to keep doing it.  Yay!  Guess you were right.  My salads weren't that horrible.  I am so proud of you for sticking to the diet and for losing that weight.  And now you know, since you made it through this time, when you have to do it before surgery, you will definitely be able to make it.  Kudos to you my friend!! Hugs

That is great news! You can do this. Eleven lbs is awesome. I feel that behavior modification prior to surgery helps so much when your in the trying weeks post op.  Have a good time going out to eat with your friends!
