The Otani doesn't work for me because I can't get cash to Cathy by 11 am on the 3rd. The hotel restaurant only seats 16???? or only seats 16 TOGETHER?? We could reserve under different groups (3 groups of 12 for example)  or perhaps we can do separate seatings of 4s, 6s, 8s, etc.  After all, with 32 people you're NOT going to sit next to and talk with everyone.  We could still mingle. Alternatively, a buffet is a much less expensive alternative and again those places can be flexible with seating at the last minute. This is a fine alternative with me.
they have 4 tables that each seat 4 people.  Embassy suites isn't known for having restaurants.  It is only little more than a coffee shop.  Good idea though

Cathy, darling, you have my sympathy...LOL  I remember all the trouble I had trying to book some place for our group last year.  Thank goodness Joe & his family offered up their home & saved the day.  I think the idea of a buffet is a very good one,.  It's affordable, it has variety, & we can storm the joint & take it over!  How much fun to float around from table to table, visiting.  As for you taking on this task, thank you so much!!!!

Hugs!
Ann

Ann  You are right.  JoeBear was very generous to open his home.  That is the best option if someone has a home big enough -- most don't.

what about somewhere like ashburn pub?  i dont' think i have ever gone in there to find tons of people!  It's always been pretty slow when we popped in to see if there was anything interesting going on.  Or a place that has outdoor seating?  i can as a friend of mine who lives out there and has had a few company meals out in the area as well.

Hi - my name is Donna, I live in the Ashburn area unfortunately I won't be at the event on Saturday, but I wanted to let you all know, that down the street from the hotel is a place called "wegmans" (located at the corner of  Waxpool and Pacific) It's a huge grocery store BUT it has a gourmet hot food area -- so you can eat as much or as little as you like AND it has tons of dinning room space up on it's second level. It has a buffet, other hot foods, soups, steamed veggies, salad bar, great cooked shrimp & seafood, etc  gosh the list goes on. Trust me, once you go you will talk about it forever. I always take folks there to eat when they come in from out of town Donna
