I Need Your Help.........

I know where I can go in good times to celebrate.....here.  And, fortunately, I have not had many instances where I needed comforting or emotional support from my friends...yes...I am proud to call all of you "friend". Well....it's my turn for some comforting.  My mother lives in Suffolk in a senior community.  She lives by herself in her own apartment.  She does not drive a car and gets around in a scooter. Every morning, she gets on her scooter and goes to the local YMCA to meet with other seniors to take a water aerobics class.  Sometimes they go to lunch afterwards. Because she does this on her own, I bought her a bracelet to wear for her trips there and back (it's bad a*s...red cami - haha - it's like mine, but mine is pink and she says it makes her feel like an athlete (just like her daughter) when she wears it).  But, her memory isn't always good so she sometimes forgets to put it on. Well, today she had a doc appointment and I do not know if she went to the Y, went to lunch, or when her appointment was.  And today Suffolk wa**** with bad tornados.  One that hit the hospital close to her community (and I think was where her appointment was). My sisters and I have been trying to get a hold of her, and can't.  I am worried sick and have no idea where to begin looking.  We can't drive up, because the road in is closed, so I do not even know what to do. I know that I keep much of my private life pretty quiet, that I really don't discuss my Mom, Dad or sisters.  I have my reasons.  But, my Mom is pretty sick.  She has been battling cancer for 7 years now.  Chemo takes away one turmor and another one shows up.  She has had many operations to remove turmors, including one that was wedges between her skull and brain.  She suffers from deep depression and is on a lot of medication.  But, insists on living at the senior community on her own.  And we cannot make her change that, because despite her issues, she is still functioning (much better than even a normal person could in her shoes I should add). I am asking that you please add her to your prayers tonight. Thank You......

Sweetie you have all the prayers that I can give and please have faith that God is with her and will keep her safe. I am sure that you will hear something shortly and she will be alright. Have you tried to call the hospital and see if maybe she was already there when it happened. You know that us older people like our indepentence. Please let  us know how things go. Keep your chin up and just pray to God that she will be alright.

Jill - I'm so sorry...you must be out of your mind worried.  When I got home from the gym after work I had a phone message from a friend checking on me too since I live in the predicted path of the storm.  I had no idea how bad Suffok wa****  Hope you hear something quickly and will post to let us know what you hear. Jill ~ So sorry to hear this, I can't imagine how you feel.  Is there a main number to the senior center she lives in?  Perhaps someone local there could go check on her?  How about calling the hosp nearby to see if she has been taken in?  Then again if the area is without power they would not have any phone service, uh?  Again, I am so sorry that you are worried like this.  I will definately pray for her and your family tonight.  Be strong and keep us posted.  Susan

Jill I am very sorry to hear this.  I am definitely saying prayers for you, your family and your mother.  I know God is with her, keeping her safe, waiting out the storms.  You say she's been battling cancer for 7 yrs so that shows just how strong she is and how much she fights.  Have faith that the strength she has shown through that will endure and get her through this.  I want you to know that Cameron was reading your post as I was and made us all bow our heads, close our eyes and he lead us in this short prayer.  "Dear God, please keep Jill's mom safe and get her home NOW!"  and yes he emphasized the NOW?  Remember he's only almost 8 and is going through this bossy stage, lol.  So just know that we, each of us, are praying for your mom and you.  Please keep us posted. Jill I was w atching the tv this afternoon when I heard about the tornadoes coming through Suffolk and I began praying for the folks in this town and surrounding areas. I am a firm believer, and I do a lot of praying for folks and I will be happy to add your mom to my daily pray list.. Let me know when you hear from her.
