A Call At 2:30 This Morning......

Well....at 2:30am I received a call from my Mom.  I swear, she is like a cat - haha. She had a doc appointment at the hospital at 345.  Because of the bad weather, she had the senior community bus take her so she would not be out in the rain.  She said that she was int he exam room waiting for the doctor to come in, when the nurse came in and told her they had to get in the bathroom.  Huh?  She had no idea as to why and was confused and scared.  She said that on their way to the bathroom, they passed a big picture window and she could see the tornado in the distance.  She said that the nurse told her that it was headed right for them and they had to get to safety. They got intot he bathroom to wait it out.  She said that the noise was EXACTLY as people describe it.  It was like a freight train in the distance or a big stack of cards being shuffled.  She said that it was really scary because they did not know what was going on, as you could not see outside (no windows in the bathroom). She said that they waited there about 30 minutes when a fireman called out and opened the door.  She said that she was VERY embarrassed, because she was sitting ont he only seat int he room....the toilet.  I told her that unless she was using it, there was NOTHING to be embarrassed about. They escorted them out and told them that they would have to walk to a safe area in order to be picked up.  The nurse told him that my Mom has bone cancer and cannot walk the distance.  So, he told them it would be a while, but he would make arrangements for her to be picked up as soon as the roads were safe enough for that.  There was a lot of debris on the road. She waited in the hospital for that time to arrive, but did not have her medication with her, so she had a small panic attack and was also in pain (she take morphine daily).  So, they gave her her morphine while she was there, so she was pretty much in and out because of her medications. She said that they were good to her while there.  Put her in a bed so she could lie down, fed her, gave her her medications, etc. She was SO sorry that she had not called earliers, but with all of the commotion and her medication, there was a lot going on. She said that they were going to keep her overnight, but she told them that with injured people coming in, she did not need the bed and would prefer to be at home.  So they finally got a rescue person who drove her home. Thank you ALL so very much for your love and support.  The support I have received has shown me that like any other family, we may have our differences, but in time of need, everyone is there. Jackie - Thank you so much for the phone call.  It meant the world to me for you to have called me. To everyone who emailed me personally, thank you so very much.  Your kind words of support were right on target and I am honored to call you "friend". With a very humbled heart....I thank, and love, each and every one of  you.

Jackie, I am so glad that your mom is ok.  God took her under his wing and protected her just as we all knew he would.  I do admit that I chuckled at the statement of her on the toilet.   Your mom must has a wonderful sense of humor.  She spotted a tornado in the distance and was worried about being on the pot when the fireman found her.  Our prayers were answered and that's the important thing.  Big hugs.
