I cannot get over the pain on my left side. It is not coming from the incision, it is an internal pain. I'm okay if I get in a chair or the recliner and get comfortable, but as soon as I stand up it starts to hurt really, really bad. It's getting worse day by day. It's mostly the left side and goes toward my back. Could it be constipation? I've not had a BM yet (sorry to be gross). I called the dr office yesterday, they just seemed to think I had overdone it (like a pulled muscle). But I did not get to talk to the dr. I'm calling back Monday if no change.  Anyone else experience this? I really think I'm okay otherwise. I try to walk but it is so painful just to stand up. I'm getting ready to take a shower and dreading every minute of it.  Thanks all, Penny

Hi Penny, I think you are too soon out to have much of a BM yet. I pulled a muscle in my lower stomach on the right hand side. I was fine curled up but the minute I stretched out it hurt like the devil. Are you taking any Gas X strips? It may also be gas. Take your meds until you can get to the doc on monday. If you have a stool or chair that is plastic, put it in the shower and sit. I'll check back in later to see how you are.

Thanks Jen, I've been passing gas okay, I think. I was told I could drink Metamucil, so I'm trying that. I've made it through another shower. Maybe it is a pulled muscle. It does feel like it. Any movement and I'm in PAIN. Thanks for your help, Penny

Hi Penny, I too had alot of pain in my left side and lower back and the dr. told me that it was just gas. He told me to walk as much as I could and that would relieve alot of gas. In about 3 weeks all the pain was gone. Hang in there it gets better as the days go by. Betty

Well I'm definitely looking forward to that day. Maybe it is just gas, I don't know. Maybe I'll try walking a little more if I can tolerate the pain. Thanks for your info, Penny

Penny, I am so sorry you are experiencing so much pain.  Do the pain meds help at all?  Take it easy and definitely call the office on Monday.  I'm sorry I cannot help with this as I didn't experience this.  I had back pain but that went away when I went home.  I wish  I could help you more :(

Thanks Anna,  I started to call you to get your opinion. The pain meds do not help at all. Missy asked me that yesterday, but they just make me sleepy. I go get in the recliner and doze off just to ease the pain, but I was really hoping I could be walking down my street by now. It mainly hurts when I stand up or reposition. Its an internal pain, it's not coming from the incision.  Otherwise, I think everything else is okay. I feel good as long as I'm sitting or lying still. I  know I'm gonna get past this, but just a little frustrated at times.  Thanks for replying, It's just frustrating when you can't figure out what it is. Thanks, Penny

I am sorry that you have to go through this.  My left side is the sorest, considering that is where they did the most manipulation & made the biggest incision.  I am unsure about the constipation.  I got lucky and the drink they gave me for my Upper GI test the I came home actually made me have a few bowel movements.  But I did have gas so bad before that, that it hurt my entire abdomen.  I hope you find out what it is soon so that you can stop hurting.  Keep us informed.

Hi penny, sorry you are having this issue.  I have a question for you....is the the left sided incision, the biggest one of them all?  If that is where the camera was, then it probably is.  I had the same kind of pain you are describing....The only way to relieve it for me was to hold my left side, literally hold it and push inward.  Do that and see if it helps.  Obviously don't push too hard but try it and if it works while you are standing, then my suggestion is go get a girdle.  Wearing a girdle was the only way I could function with that pain in my left side.  Otherwise, I was just a basket of tears from the pain.  I asked Dr. Long about it and he told me it was where he could have possibly stitched a nerve with the incision when he closed it and EVENTUALLY, not a word I liked at that point in time, would release and the pain would disappear.  I wore that girdle for 3 months before I was comfortable enough to walk around without it.  It became my best friend.  Out of those 3 months, the only time I had that girdle off was to take a shower.  I bought one of the ones that snapped together in the crotch so all I had to do was unhook it to go potty. On a side note, that girdle benefited me tremendously during that initial 3 months because where it kept my skin taught on my belly, I do not have a lot of hanging skin or the apron that people talk about.  I have a small, small overhang but nothing that would need ps to fix.   I hope this helps you and you get some relief soon.  Let us know how it goes.   Please also call the office on monday just to let them know it is still going on.  He may still want to see you just to palpate your belly for stiffness incase it is constipation.  God Bless you.

They did say the left side would be the most sore from the camera. At this point, pushing on it makes it more sore, but that is very interesting. I may want a girdle anyway after your story about the skin. I think I"m feeling better today. It doesn't seem quite as bad this morning, so maybe it is just soreness or gas. We'll see how the day goes.

Thanks alot Penny
