Psych Eval Advice

Hey Everyone!  My husband had surgery in July of 2006 and now I would like to have it as well.  The only thing I have left to get for the prior auth is my psych eval.  I saw this particular dr on recommendation from the surgeon's office on April 11 and she said she would write the letter on the following Monday (April 14).  As of this past Thursday (May 1st!) it hadn't been written yet. I was wondering if any of you had this problem and if there was any advice on the most effective way to get it done.  I called Friday to let her office know she was the last thing I needed to see if that could hurry her up.  I don't want to be a B but I would like my letter. Hey Brandi -  You could also try since your surgeon reccomended the dr to have them call also to try to get the paperwork.  Best of luck! Amanda

Thanks Amanda! I had considered that but wasn't sure.  The insurance guy was kind of like "psych eval is your deal" but I may have to go that route.  Thanks again!

I agree with Amanda, get your sugeons office to follow up also.  I had to wait about two weeks for the psych evaulation letter to come through, so hopefully you won't have to wait too much longer!  Best of luck on your future surgery!

Good am Brandi, As the other ladies have mentioned having your surgeon's office follow up is the best way to go. Sometimes we aren't "heard" and we need that extra help. All best!

I would also bug the doc's office. Say to them, I'm coming on ___________ day to pick up the letter. Sometimes you have to be a thorn!

Brandi,  I see that you live close by in Verona.  Are you getting your surgery done at UVA?  If so, when I had my psych eval it took awhile for the doctor to dictate the letter, get it in the system, and then a copy over to the insurance guy.    I would definitely call the psych office and keep on top of them!  Feel free to PM me if you are having yours with Dr. Schirmer, and I will try to help.
