When it rains...It pours (update on me and family)

Hey everyone.  Sorry it took so long to update, but you will know why in a few minutes. Court went OK on Thursday.  No one got custody as of this date however a home study has been officially ordered for both prospective homes and should be completed soon.  The judge had several compliments for my uncle and was pleased with his progress thus far.  Next date is set for October (23rd, I think!) but they may move the girls before then (but after school lets out) once the home studies are approved.  Please keep us in your prayers as we all need them...now more than ever. We had to stop by the dentist for my uncle when we left court Thursday.  They had a last minute cancellation, so we got there at 6:30 pm.  We did not leave until 9:30.  They were in the process of doing a root canal on him when another patient "blew a clot" and wouldn't stop bleeding.  So my uncle was part of the way complete and they had to just leave him sitting there to attend to the other patient.  All ended well, but it took forever! Friday was race day.  Hubby and I always spend all day Friday and Saturday at the track when they come to Richmond.  This year, we had two extra tickets to the Nationwide Series race on Friday in the reserved section so my dad and uncle were going with us.  Well, during the day when we were walking around shopping and looking, my dad WON two tickets to the Sprint Cup Series race for Saturday.  We were alll excited and knew that daddy and Timmy (uncle) would be coming back with us again the next day.  Well, we continued to shop a little and then decided to walk back to the van to eat and get ready to go inside.  My dad was having a hard time walking back so I got the guest services golf cart to pick him up and drive us back to our parking/camp site.  He was pale and tired so he was going to rest and drink some water.  We thought he had just gotten too hot and would be fine.  After about 45 minutes or so he said he had to go to the restroom so he got up and was kind of dizzy, but not too bad.  He took about 4-5 steps then turned around and said he couldn't make it.  He then took 1 step walking back and collapsed against the side of the van.  He completely passed out.  I sent Steve running to call EMS and I stayed with him.  Being an EMT is easy, but not when it is your family that you are working on.  He came to a within about 30 seconds or so and seemed fine but had no memory of anything that had happened.  EMS transported him (and me too, since I wasn't leaving him) to the care center and after a thorough check over we decided to transport him to the local hospital for more tests and observation.  Well, turns out he had a heart attack and we never knew it.  He did not show any of the normal signs and had no chest pain at all.  He goes in for a procedure tomorrow morning about 6 am.  Please keep him in your prayers.  I will update ASAP. Love, Tammy

Hey girl glad to hear from you as we were wondering what happened.  As for the courts, so glad that they are doing everything possible to make sure the girls go to the right place.  Not good about your dad.  I am glad that you were with him & able to help him through it.  Prayers coming for you all & his doctors.  Hope they can get him all fixed up and back to normal asap.

Oh Tammy, I am so sorry to hear about your dad. I'm sure you will pass the home study with flying colors. My son is adopted from Peru and we went through a few home visits. The first one has a funny story.  It was blood drive day at my office, and for the first time I decided to give blood. Bad idea!! On the right arm, they couldent get a vein and poked andpoked EVERYWHERE. So they got one and then it backed up and my arm was now all bruised looking. So being the trooper that I am, go ahead do the left arm, I say. Mistake # 2. They got it but then the vein "blew" and again I was bruised lookiing. So 2 hours later I go home the social worker comes ask me what I'm doing in a long sleeve shirt since it was so hot (and I was sweating) So I laugh it off. About an hour into the visit, she comes right out and asks me if I could pass a drug test. By this time I  had forgotten about my arms and said yes why...and she pushed up my sleeves and said THAT"S WHY. I confessed my day to her and we all had a good laugh.

Morning Tammy.....

Well, let me start with you were missed this weekend!  Would have loved to visited with you.

Thanks for the update on the custody issue.  You have been in my thoughts and prayers over this since your last post on the subject.  Glad to hear that it wasn't a total bust and that it is being checked into.  Fingers are crossed for you.....

Hope your Dad is feeling better today.  Poor guy...won those tickets and then could not use them.  That just stinks, especially when it just made his day.  He will be in my thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery.

Ok, at some point it's just GOT TO STOP RAINING on your parade!  Wow, girlie.  First off, good news about the kids, but October?  That's a long time when you're trying to regroup your little family.  I have no doubt that things will work out for you on that front.  As for your Dad...poor guy.  But with good doctors & lots of TLC & prayers, he'll be back at the tracks before long.  As for you, I hope you're not beating yourself up for not being "a better medic."  You are absolutely right about it being a very different thing when it's one of your own.  We almost lost our youngest son a year ago because I didn't see all the classic signs of type 1 diabetes.  Thank God you were there with him.  I love you bunches, kiddo!!

Hugs!
Ann
