25 days til my re-birthday.  It feels so odd to say that.  Next week starts all of my appointments one right after the other......it's starting to hit me.  I feel like my whole world is spinning and out of control.  I'm wondering how all of you handled the days before your surgery......Any tips or ideas?

Congratulations and best of luck to you.. I stayed busy to make the days go by a little faster. I made sure I was prepared at home and done a little extra cleaning. I also tried to get paperwork ahead at the office. I waited a little late though. The week before surgery was so hectic. ..all sorts of obstacles thrown at me that week. One other big thing to me, I started exercising. Even if its just walking everyday, it will help prepare your heart and lungs for the surgery.  Penny

Good am! I would suggest asking before hand however, I would start walking as much as you can NOW to prepare yourself for your post-op lifestyle. I started walking with one of my best connections in our neighborhood EVERY night and we did about 2 miles. I have to say if it weren't for her I wouldn't have pushed myself. She NEVER said any one thing negative and I will admit I complained and whined about it and she just kept changing the subject and talking about other things and before I knew it we were done. I finally gave up on trying to fight her on walking and yes I knew with surgery I would have to anyway. She's an amazing lady and such a motivator today. She's one of my inspirations and although she hasn't had surgery she's truly a wonderful supporter. In addition to exercising NOW I think you might take some time to journal your thoughts whether they be fears, excitement, frustrations, worries, concerns, etc and talk with yourself and others about them. I assure they will be common to what almost all of us feel. Know that we are here when you need us and even when you don't. So feel free to reach out! All best to you!

Try to relax so that the craziness doesn't overwhelm you.  Make sure to get some of the little things done.  Get as much info to prepare yourself as you can & just sit back & enjoy the ride.

Sweetie, I'm not gonna add to all the terrific advice you've already gotten.  Just consider me comic relief.  Spinning out of control?  Can't have that.  Instead, why not go out into your yard & REALLY spin, just not out of control.  And just for shock factor, if you're brave enough, do it in the FRONT YARD, right about the time all your neighbors are getting home from work.  DARE to be silly, fun, & outrageous...you might teach some of them to loosen up a bit.     you're gonna be fine...really.

Hugs!
Ann

You're very close!  I would suggest getting as much done as you can aroudn the hours prior, so you can concentrate on yourself and healing post surgery.  For me, I attempted (key word HA HA) to clean up the house so I would be looking around wanting to do stuff and not feeling well enough or having enough mobility to do so.  You won't be doing alot of bending and such, so consider that.  Other than that, I stocked myself up with a few proteins to try and the basic stuff like broth, water, jello, etc.  Best of luck!
