Thanks for clearing that up. I guess I meant that you won't have to buy the pricey ones forever...just makes it easy to get the 42 grams in now since we can't eat alot  right now. Thanks, Penny

Penny ,  I just wanted to step in and say this . I am 4 years out . I have been and will always do protein suppliments. And as to the 42 grams at one sitting . This to does not happen . Research has shown that our bodies now can only absorb @ 28 grams at one sitting . So doing the entire bullet would be a waste . I would do half in the morning and half in the evening . Keep in mind as well that these bullets are collegen based protein . Unless they state otherwise and are whey based . I have yet to see any of the bullets that are whey , if they are out there , I want one !! We must have whey protein isolate and whey protein concentrates . These carry the 21 amino acids that our bodies need to heal and to replenish lost cells .  In no way am I telling you not to do these . They are good , but just always keep in mind to incorporate all types of protein . Whey Isol and Whey cons are the best . If you are able to get in food now , and keep your protein first , you will come out fine !  As always, check with your surgeon or nutrictionist for guidance. I am only telling you from my training as a support group leader and my study on post op WLS nutridtion .  Take care .. !!  Nat

Thanks Tink, I know I have a lot to learn. Thanks for your info. I believe it was Jackie Thodos who posted about liquid whey. I just used a search engine and ordered through nashuanutrition.com. It is called IDS New Whey LIguid Protein 42 or 25 grams. I'm going to check on the amino acids, isolates, and concentrates. I really do not know anything about that.

If you have a chance to check those out, please give me your opinion on it. I want to do what as best for my body as possible. Thanks, Penny

I know that my doctor highly recommends these as a way to get in your protein - without concern to the amount of grams of protein in each sitting.  There is alot of controversary regarding how many grams of protein that can be absorbed in one sitting.  I've seen studies that indicate 28 grams, I've seen 35 grams, I've seen the "We really do not know."  I think as with everything else, each person is going to be different. But, to save on the expens of those bullets, I would do a 42 gram one in half sittings, just to be on the safe side, because you never know.  So, I would suggest that you do the best that you can do to meet your levels and then look in depth at your labs to see if you need to make any adjustments.  And, as always...follow what your doctor says. But, if protein was an issue for me, I personally, would go for it.

Nat,  I have been trying to use the entire bullet 42 grams in one sports bottle and sipping, sipping, sipping all day long and keep re-icing because it melts way before I consume it all.  If I should divide that up in two servings, do I need to refridgerate after opening the bullet?   Thank you.   I have now lost 36 lbs in 7 weeks.   I am feeling lots of energy so know the bullets are working.   I had the VBG with sleeve.   I have about 50 lbs to go.   I really feel great.   Please keep me posted on the bullets and what to do.......thank you again.

I would think that you would be fine as it sounds no different than making a protein drink and sipping on it all day long.

Thanks so much for your advice.  I swear I LOVE THIS SITE!!  As I mentioned a bit earlier, my sister in law is getting me free samples of Unjury so I have some stuff to play around with.  But you know I love reading your posts and advice.  I truly listen and pay attention. Hugs

I also use the fruity ones.  What do you mix yours with?   I do fruit punch crystal lite, but am getting burned out.  If you have any suggestions please drop me a line.......thanks.......Brenda

I do not mix them with anything. They come in a liquid form and just drink them as is. They taste good to me. I don't care for the powder mixes that much, so this is an excellent alternative. My second favorite drink is the EAS Advantage drinks.  Best wishes, Penny

Thank you Penny.   I tried drinking them straight from the bullet, but I can't do it.  I would take a little and then drink a little water to wa**** down even and still couldn't do it.  I have tried the orange flavored one as well.   Just can't seem to digest these like this.  I am going to try to use half at a time and see how it goes tomorrow.   Thanks again.   Bren
