Surgery date

Hi Cathya, yes I was shocked too as when he did my band 3 yrs ago I didn't have to pay any up front. He said this is normal now. I talked with my ins co. and everything he listed is OK by them so I may get some of it back and if I'm lucky all of it. I will not hold my breath on that one tho. Well, the band was working OK till I had a ruptured appendix and that was the cause for the band to deflate. So I went thru all the preop stuff again and this time I'm going for the RNY and get it over with. Should have done it the first time but I was chicken...Anyway I'm anxious to get it done so this one can't deflate....haha  Take care Lady and hope to see ya soon..........................................................................................................................................................................Jim

Well I know that Dr's Halmi and Tran of Woodbridge do repair surgeries carried out by other people and would probably do it for you too - and I doubt there is a 3K program fee - but I don't know that for sure - and you probably would not get it done bu thje 30th of this month - so if I was in the position you were and needed it urgently I would suck it up - if I could wait a few more weeks I would go and see Dr Halmi and at least learn what he can offer.... Hi Jacqueline, yes I know of them but when I talked to my ins co. and suggested another Dr. they told me I would have to go thru the whole pre-op stuff again with the new Dr and I was unwilling to do that of course. Yep, I'm just going to suck it up and pay the fee and hope I can recover most of it in the end as my ins. co. is going to pay all the codes he presented to me. Total cost is 17,282.50 Sounds like a lot as that don't include the hosp fees either but the ins. will cover that. Anyway, thanks for thinking of me and I'll take all the luck I can get..Jim

How exciting to get a date so close to now!  WOOHOO! Sorry you have to pay that huge fee upfront, but if you can afford it, the life change you'll be recieving is priceless and can't even compare to the fee.  :) HUGS!

Hi d do Leliamaeryn, thanks for the comeback. I don't like paying the fee but the ins co. told me he can legally do it so I bit the bullet and will pay him as you say the rewards are so much greater in the long run. I'll keep you posted as to how it goes and I take all huggies....Jim

Congrats on the Surgery Date!!  It'll be here before you know it! it sucks about the program fees, sounds like that should have been disclosed beforehand, but you'll be gaining so much more!  Hopefully you'll be able to get it back.  Did the Dr. say that it' only a retainer until all the bills are paid by your insurance?
