Saturday's 10k Results
I ran a 10k on Saturday, the Elizabeth River Run which tooted through the streets of my beloved Olde Towne Portsmouth and through the grounds of the Portsmouth Naval Hospital. It was a beautiful day for a run and the views were great of the Elizabeth River. As a part of getting the whole family into the fitness craze, I had my 13 year-old, Greg, run it too. He stayed with me a bit at the beginning, but quickly shot ahead of my like he was a little older and had my car keys.
I managed to prove the old yarn about slow but steady winning the race...sort of....because he ended up beating me. He finished about 6 minutes ahead of me. I am pretty proud though because I peeled nearly 2 minutes off my time from last month and I was up most of the night before with a sick baby and wife. Here are our results:
593 GREG MAURY 13 68:26
659 BLAIR MAURY 37 74:23It look like there were 785 runners who finished, so I wasn't swift but I got there. I have managed to get the entire family in on the excitement. We are doing the 2008 Run/Walk for CHKD in Norfolk June 14. My wife (with Clare in the stroller) is doing the 2 mile run and Alex, my seven year-old is expected to join her). Greg and I will be doing the 8k and DAMN IT I am going to beat his butt this time! http://www.active.com/page/Event_Details.htm?event_id=154885 7&assetId=90c9ae1a-03c1-41e5-82b0-15d6934c77c6
