Dearest Ann, I am so glad that you have seen a doctor about your depression and are waiting to speak to a therapist. After many years of seeing someone good, I can vouch for what a weight it can take off your shoulders and years of self recriminations that can be resolved. I recently had gone off of my medication that I know I need for my depression, and thanks to our conversation last week, I realized that I needed to take better care of myself and get it together, so heres to you doing the same and taking care of yourself and doing what you have to do to stay strong. Hugs,Pam

Hi Ann. I agree. Xanax is used to treat anxiety and panic disorders. I take it, primarily because when I go into an asthma attack, I tend to throw myself into a panic attack as well. So at first onset of an asthma attack, I take one, hoping to keep me calmer then I would normally be. If depression is what you are suffering from then maybe an anti depressant is something you should be taking. Not that the Xanax wouldn't be helpful for the feelings of being overwhelmed. I am glad you are getting some answers though. I will pray for you hun!

Good am Ann, I'm VERY proud of you! You're a strong, opinionated, loving, caring woman and a neat friend among other things. Its never easy asking for help (God knows I suck at it more than I admit) but it does wonders for us when we do. Here's a couple things I'd like you to consider. Does the therapist you're being suggested to see specialize in more than just depression? I ask because it helps when you can find a doc that can write scripts for meds and not just "talking." Some folks just need a combination of meds to help get them balanced and on an even path if that makes sense. Take care of you. Hugs..........

Best of luck working through all of this, Ann. My prayers are going out with you. (My dr., by the way, had me on anti-anxiety medication as well. Or maybe it worked on both anxiety and depression? I don't know. But I think that's a pretty common thing)
