Plastics question

Man. I am just freaking SICK  of the way my body is treating me lately. It's just killing me. Don't get me wrong. I am very where I am in terms of weight loss. I just went on a 7 miles run and weighed in at 225. So, at 6 months, 2 weeks I am 5 lbs. from goal. No complaint there. What's ******g me off today is the skin. When I run my nipples bleed and bleed ugly. I mean my shirt looks like it was in a UFC fight. And I can sometimes hear my empty gut flapping. So I am going to have to get plastics. It looks like my health plan will cover it because the extra skin is causing issues. Now...to get to my question: Anyone know if I am not far enough out yet? Based on what I've seen, this thing should take 15+ lbs. off of me, so I'd be way under my goal weight. Any counsel would be appreciated.

I had weight loss surgery. I did it the easy way.

Most plastic surgeons prefer that your weight is stable for 6 months but there is no hard and fast rule.  Make sure all the surgeons you consult with are experienced in working with massive weight loss patients.  Don't forget to check out the Plastic Surgery forum.  Besides the posts there are links to information.  Good luck, Loris

Good am Blair, I'm going through the process now. Last pm Loris, Mary and our group were discussing this very subject. I am very adamant about getting reconstructive surgery and so I'm arming myself with lots of knowledge. Loris is right in that plastics surgeons want 6 months of consistency and the lb I am learning is not the end all be all deciding factor. Do visit the plastics forum and there are a lot of different surgeons out there. Its finding the one that you are comfortable with. All best!

Yep, everyone I have talked with said that surgeons want stable weight for about 6 months.  Another important thing is documentation.  If you are noticing those issues now, start making dr. appts. to get them documented.

Runners Tip:  Put vaseline on your nipples before you go out to run...helps with the friction.... As for plastics....what they said!

What everyone has told you is correct Blair - most surgeons like your weight to be stable for several months before they want to do any plastic surgery - and usually at least 1 year out from surgery as your body is still changing! I wish you luck gaining approval from your insurance company - most will not cover it unless in extreme cir****tances and what you consider extreme may not be so extreme to them - make sure you have lots of pictures and evidence from your doctor that have had to have treatment etc for the rashes/bleeding  etc - otherwise you may have quite the fight on your hands! Good luck!! Jackie
