Take a dose of humility along with your success.

Have you ever had someone tell you how they think you should live? Did you feel annoyed&even hurt? As you transform, your success can become a point of pride for you. But avoid the temptation to act as if you know it all, as if you know how others should lose weight, as if you are better than people who are struggling.

You can be satisfied with your progress and know it was the right path for you. But each person must choose their own destiny and come to their own decision. Remember how you felt when people tried to tell you what to do. Be gracious and compassionate with people, keeping your well-meaning opinions to yourself when they are not solicited.

Action for the day: Practice humility today. Start by thinking of a time when someone practiced humility toward you.

This definitely speaks to me, because I have family (actually, my in-laws) who have not practiced humility towards me when it comes to my struggle with my weight. They have done nothing but belittle and marginalize my struggle the entire six years I have known my husband. [Luckily, my own family has been supportive]. These are people who have struggled with far worse issues over the years and expected family to support them 100% and pick up the pieces of the messes they caused, yet you'd think I'd committed some horrible, horrible crime by being overweight. At least my problem didn't endanger anyone but myself, but they never saw that. Although it has been hurtful, it was a good lesson in turning the other cheek when it comes to being there and supporting those who struggle, realizing that everyone's journey is different because we are all different people. I will always remember where I came from and how easy it is to go back there if I don't take care of myself and practice humility.
