VSG on 12/10/07 with

Hello everybody and glad to meet you all  Thanks Sherri  --  GREAT POST  !!    Well I'm 42 years old single, never been married ,  no kids and have been over weight by whole life . I would post  an older picture of  "skinny " Tony like some others have on this board but believe me when I say that I have been LARGE my whole life !  Played a lot of sports when I was little and even at the age of 10 when I started football I was already about  170 pounds .  I quit trying diets several years ago because the lost pounds always seemed to have more relatives visit for the funeral and I usually ended up weighing  more than when I started.    I had my VSG on 12-10-07 and it was by far the best thing I have ever done for myself !

I live in MS just across the state line from Memphis TN in what was once a small town but has grown into one of the larger cities in MS since so many people are running away from MEMPHIS ! I have lived here by whole life except for the first few years when I was born in Memphis.  Please don't hold that against me becasue I was too young then to know better !  Hope everybody has a great day  Tony

Hi!  I'm Robyn from Moore, OK (just outside Oklahoma City) and I'm 31 years old.  I don't have any biological children but my husband and I are raising his soon to be 9 year old son.  I have pretty much been thin most of my life UNTIL I got to college where I put on the freshman 15 times 4!  Well, I lost all of that weight and got thinner than I was in high school and kept the weight of (for the most part - fluctuated 10 lbs here and there) for about 2 years.  I met my husband, WONDERFUL DEAR man, Chris, and we got married in December of 2005 on the beach in Antigua.  Well, can I say my weight SHOT up to an all time high of 220.  That was it.  I was tired of yo yo-ing and made an appointment with Dr. Broussard on March 6th and had surgery 2 weeks ago on April 23rd.  So pleased - so excited for what's to come!  You guys on this board have been a real blessing - thank you all for sharing!

I am absolutely amazed that we have more than 100 posts on this one thread when there used to be days we'd have 10 posts all day!!!

Hi all!! I'm Colleen, 33 from Dallas area.  Married 14 yrs to the best man ever, have a 7 yr old son & 3 furbabies.... hoping to get pregnant by the end of 08.

VSG was my choice after 4 yrs of failed fertility treatments, decided if I wasn't getting pregnant, I was getting skinny.  Since 28Mar07 I've lost 109 lbs, gone from size 20ish to 4's, weight now is anywhere between 125 and 130, maintenance of this weight has been pretty  much effortless since mid Dec when the doc says time to stop losing. (amazingly it nearly came to a complete halt at that point anyway).

I have SO much energy its unbelievable.  I'm an accounting exec at my company, working on my MBA at Dallas Baptist Univeristy and we are HUGE camping/boating family; most weekends that DH is off work we are at the lake.

He's facing troubles at work, they are eliminating his level of mgmt, so 5 of the 17 in his position will be promoted, other 12 will be demoted, to the tune of about $4/hr pay cut; which has us pretty stressed.... BUT good news is our camping trips for the summer are already paid for, so even if $$ is tight, we'll still get to go away and enjoy the summer.

Thats me..... great thread Sherri!!!

Hi there everyone! My name is Heather, I am 36yrs old, no children and never been married. I have a pet turtle named Shel Lee (named after my stepfather who passed away and he was as slow as a turtle, so the name was perfect!) I'm a patient at Kaiser Fremont. I have 23lbs more to lose before I can be scheduled for the VSG. It's been a bit of a struggle for me, and losing the weight has been slow. I will eventually get my act together! I am hoping to have surgery this summer, but we will see. I love reading all your post, you have truely been a great support system for me and have given me so much insight on this surgery. I'm wishing everyone pre-op and post-ops the best of luck on their weightloss journey!

Hello! My name is Erin. I had my VSG surgery May 2 . I am 37 (a lot of mid thirties in this group!)  I grew up in Miami, Florida, and lived there until I was 21.  In 1993 I married an Air Force man and we have been married now for 15 years.  We have 3 sons - ages 4, 7 and 9. We also have a dog (Pembroke Welsh Corgi) and a Cat, a sal****er fishtank, and two freshwater tanks. (dont know why I included all that pet info!)  Well, we have been moving around a lot for the last 15 years. We have been in Central Georgia, Oklahoma, Incirlik Turkey, Fort Walton Beach, FL (Eglin AFB), and now Navarre (Hurlburt AFB). So, there has been a lot of uprooting and food has always been my constant.   I enjoy scrapbooking - and getaway on 2 or 3 scrapbooking retreats a year. I love those weekends away. Although, they are also planned around food. I am going to need to get creative in that respect. As far as what I am up to now. Presently I am healing from the VSG. But, day to day I am back in school. I am finishing up my degree in Sonography (ultrasound).      I spent the last 20 years going to bed each night devising a plan to do better the next day sticking to a diet - and lose weight finally. Every night I went to bed with those thoughts in my head of how much I want to lose this weight. Moments where I could have been thanking the Lord for my children and all of the gifts in my life. Instead, I lay there disappointed in myself. So, I am approaching 40 yrs old. I dont want to feel like this for the rest of my life - so VSG was for me.  I have HPB (although mild) but my dad has diabetes and no feeling in one of his legs....I didnt want to be in his shoes. I decided to grab the bull by the horns and go for it. I was so pleased when the surgeon totally agreed with me, and all my reasons for wanting the surgery - and said how about May 2!?  (Which was just 2 weeks away. ) My parents werent so supportive at first, nor my brother and sister in law. They had a friend who had RNY and had a bad outcome. So, they thought that would happen to me. I had to let them know I was serious, did a bit of explaining (and leaving them print outs) on VSG. Thank goodness they do support me now.  So, thanks for starting this thread - and I cant wait to read all the responses.  Erin R

Hello, my name is Robin.  I have three children, two boys and one girl.    We tend to have a house full of boys (friends of my youngest son). Guess they are my kind-of-adopted boys.  I've been remarried for approximately 20 months.  I live in Larose, Louisiana.  I grew up overweight and dieted since I was a teenager.  I used to either binge eat or not eat at all.  That was my idea of a diet. Probably lost hundreds of pounds only to gain it back ++.  Love my VSG- consider it a blessing.   I work  part-time in a Special Education Center.   It is always an inspiration to read about  other people overcoming this problem also.
