I can't believe I missed this one! That's what I get for not being on OH for a few days . . .
I am 38 years old, married 13 years and we have 3 kids. My oldest son is 12, my daughter is 9 and my youngest son is 2 - he was a bit of a surprise!
I live in Connecticut on the coast of Long Island Sound. I am a currently a stay-at-home Mom but I have been back to work on an off for the past 10 years. I spend a great deal of time sailing with my family and traveling with my oldest son who sails Optimists all over the country. In between sailing my oldest two kids play lacrosse and I LOVE watching them play. Right now, we are in the process of planting an English Boxwood garden. I love to get my hands dirty and creating something from a blank slate. My huband just moved 22,000 lbs of topsoil and I have about 100 boxwoods to plant in the next week. (I'll post pics when I am done!)
I was always the "thin girl" growing up and I never had to watch what I ate but after kids I just could never drop the weight. In the past 6-7 years I gained the most amount of weight and finally realized that I was "obese" and I needed to make some seroius changes. After years of trying to get the weight off I finally realized that if I didn't do something drastic I could be this way the rest of my life. I just couldn't do that to myself. I was healthy and I had no co-morbidities but I wasn't going to stay that way if I kept gaining weight. After 1 year of research I decided that the VSG was the best surgery for me. At 12 weeks out, I am down 37 pounds and I couldn't be happier. I love my sleeve!

Hi Everyone,
I'm Pielet. I had my surgery 7/07 and have happily lost ~85 lbs. My partner and I have 2 virtual-twin girls (birthdays are 3 weeks apart) who just turned 7. (Pictures are on my profile.)
I have become a bit of a fanatic about the sleeve and have an urge to tell every large person I see to go get one. Sometimes it is a real struggle to hold back LOL!
And I love this community--I was away from it for a few months and felt like something was missing. So glad to be reunited!

I'm Lisa, and after years and years of trying to find a way to lose weight that I could live with, I'm hoping I've finally found it. I've always been able to lose weight on diets, but eventually I find I can't live the way I have to in order to keep it off. I'm praying this will be the tool I need to keep those calories down for good.
And today, I started my three-day pre-op clear liquid diet. Broth, s.f. Jello, s.f. popsicles, and Crystal Light just for variety! My guess is by Monday I'm going to be glad they're removing most of my stomach because it's going to feel so hollow! LOL.

This is a fantastic idea Sherri. My name is Rebecca...I am 51 years old...Wow!!! big number...I was a mother of 2..I have a son that is 26 and I had a daughter until she was 17..Her and her bestfriend was killed in a car accident...It will be 5 years on July 1st since she entered heaven. I went through so much to get where I am now. Because of a fantastic Christian therapist and my faith. I now have a life and I look forward to a great future.
I have be overweight since I can remember. This always made it tough because I have scolosis and have broken rods in my back, my foot is paralized and in bad shape. These are the main reasons I started looking into WLS about 3 years ago. Something about RNY and Lapband didn't sit right with me...So I kept looking, then at a weightloss seminar, VSG was brought up but not focused on. It caught my eye and after much research, I know this is the surgery for me. Now here comes the fun..getting approved by insurance and maybe appeals...I want this so bad, so I am willing to do everything I can to get what I know in my heart is right for me.
Thanks to everyone on here that is sooooo supportive. I am looking forward to the day I can post on here my post-op results and I can celebrate with all the other "sleevers" on here!!!

HI - I hope its not too late to reply.... My name is Jamie and I am 31 years old and I live in beautiful Vancouver, Canada. I am 263 pounds and feel like I am so much older than I am. My weight has totally affected my life and I find I am staying home and not enjoying life more and more. I life with my boyfriend of 8 years and he is the kindest most wonderful person I have ever met. I have been on this board for a while and was originally considering DS but don't want the malabsorption issues. I have just come out of emergency surgery for a bulging disk in my back (I have not been reading the site for about 3 weeks) and that will delay when I have the VSG for a bit but I am still hopeful to have it with Dr. A in Mexico soon.
