Z~ I think I have found my twin in you...lol....you are describing me to a T! i have been walking 3-5 miles a day and lots of the time I feel dizzy when I stand and cannot for the life of me get more than 45oz down a day, (that is my record, usually between 30-40. I am definatly going to slow down and not rush what my body doesn't want, just because some others can. i am so glad to see stories I can relate to, thank you so much for your help!

I am a week behind you and I also can not tolerate solids very well.  Almost no meat. One bite and I hurt.  I can eat south beach protein bars slowly. Oth er than that its pudding, refried beans, some pasta and breads.  This is about all my tummy can tolerate.  Eggs really hurt bad.  I also have a problem getting enough fluids because anything cold hurts too.  Maybe we are just slow healers.

We all heal at different rates, perhaps your stomach is still healing and a little swollen.  The reality is for us our stomach now dictates what we can and can't eat.  I think you should build up slowly.  I would puree your meats start thin and then gradually puree less, so the consistancy is thicker.  Become your stomachs teacher and eventually you will be fine.  The other thing is I eat every 2-3 hours and about 6 times a day, sometimes 7, but never more than half a cup, less if it is thicker.  If I overeat I throw up.  Throwing up is not a pleasant thing, but better than the way you feel when your tummy is not tolerating.  Chicken and I are not friends at the moment, but shredded beef that is pureed is.  All the best.  Anne

Thanks for the advise, I am so sad that my tummy doesn't like chicken right now, I don't eat red meat, (i just don't like it) so i thought sure chicken would still be my favorite meat, but I guess I will just wait a awhile and try it again later. I also need to eat more often I think, I will take your advise on the 2-3 hours and see how that works....thanks again
HUGS,
Jodi

Not everybody heals at the same pace as do others, so   the rule of thumb says that if you can't eat solids, that you should stick to soft foods, then try hard foods another time.  And some foods are more fibrous and thus harder to digest than others.  Chicken and turkey are fibrous, but if you pound the hell out a chicken breast to tenderize it, then bread it and fry it up in some olive oil, it will go down so much easier.  And you're probably eating a bit more than 300 calories a day or else you'd be very weak.  Why don't you try drinking protein supplements that meets some of your liquid requirements as well as protein ones, too.

In other words, I think you're rushing it a bit.  Your stomach will let you know when and what you can eat, so give it time.  In so far as real food goes, it is a process of trial and error just like anything else. Try a soft meat like filet minon or lamb when you try to get back to the "real" food.

Ciao...

Thanks Warlock for the realiity check, I think your absolutly right, I am rushing it. I also read somewhere that if you use a jacquard on chicken ( I guess its a meat tenderizer thingy majig) that is makes it really soft, so I need to get one, or just take out my stress for the day and pound the HELL out of it.....lol.... I have never had lamb but I could try it, how the heck you cook a lamb...I guess thats a whole nuther topic huh...anyway thanks for the advise and I will not rush from now on, I need to listen to my body and you all!
take care,
Jodi

You can buy ground lamb and make a lamb and feta and spinach burger.  Just mix the fresh spinach and feta and maybe even sundried tomato bits into the ground beef .

Hi Jodi!  Good question--it is so hard to try and keep up with when and how much to eat and drink, etc.  I go for my 6 week check-up on Monday and expect to be cleared for solids.  I am a little hesitent as I have seen a few people say the same thing.  I want to eat solids, but...  I can only eat about 2-3oz. at one time and am really having a hard time with getting all the liquids in--I am just not a thirsty person!!??  Hope it gets better for you soon!
