UHC is annoying to get a straight answer out of, but they have been covering the VSG for a lot of folks online, and tend not to have a lot of hoops to jump through. I think it's worth waiting a bit to get it covered if you otherwise like their plan and are happy to switch to them.

Have you talked to your company about this? If they are self-funded, they can chose to pay for your surgery now -- and if they are adding WLS coverage, they could be open to doing it.

 I work for the school system in GA -- don't think they would bend on this for me.

That is good to know about UHC paying for some VSG's. I just don't know if they will here or not. I know Cigna will not. Part of the problem is I don't have much time to decide. I did ask my surgeon's office if they have had UHC covering any VSG's, and they said they have not had any coverage for it (but, they are also out of network, so maybe that makes a difference?).

No, they probably won't. They probably aren't self-funded either.
