How do you know when its time to stop losing? Im weighing in about 160lbs and wanted to lose to 135-140lbs. Im 5'7"--thats reasonable right? Im asking because I have had FOUR people today alone tell me that I need to stop now. That Im TOO thin. WTH??? They dont see me nekid so they cant possibly know of all the chub left in my tummy and legs. So really tho---when do you know your thin enough? People have been telling me that my face is too gaunt and Im just right or too thin. I see the old me when I look in a mirror--and when I was 95lbs heavier I saw what I am now. I just look like me in the mirror. So I dont see what they are seeing. In my opinion I could stand to lose 15-25 more pounds. What do you say to people who tell you to stop? And how do you know when they are right?

Thanks! XOXOXO!

Only you and your doctor can tell you when to stop losing. You believe you need to lose 15 more, than do it. It is easy for other people to tell us what to do. But, they wouldn't be in your "old" body for one day! It's really none of their business. Unless you are asking for their opinions.

Sorry I dont have an answer for you but I just wanted to say that you look awesome!!! Dont let anyone make you thinkyou look too thin. I think they are just not used to seeing you at this weight "normal".
My daughters father asked me if I stopped eating, he thought my face was too thin. He is just not used to seeing me this way. I still have a good 35 lbs to go!

yOu have been doing great girlie!!!! You are down 20 more than me and I am a month longer out and 5'8". Just what I needed to get back to losing again. I havent lost in  over two months : ( sometimes I think this will be it but I know I can do it if I put my mind to it.
You definitely got me motivated!!!

Keep up the good work!!

It all depends on "their" point of reference. Did they know you when you where heavier? Then that is what they compare it to. What is "your" point of reference? What weight do or did you feel comfortable at?
Your body will tell you when it wants to stop. Do keep up your nutrition and protein to stay healthy.
I'm about 12 lbs from my "ideal", "younger days" weight, but I don't think it would look good on me at my age today, so if I where to loose 5 to 7 lbs more it will be great, but I feel wonderful at the weight I'm at today. Good luck!

Your BMI is just at "normal" right now. Which means it's unlikely you are unhealthily thin. Whether your frame can support going lower is something you can talk to your PCP and/or your surgeon about. I wouldn't talk to casual acquaintances about it though, because their judgment isn't based on professional medical knowledge, but their own biased ideas about fat and thin and what is and isn't normal.

THANK YOU!!! You are right on! I dont ask for the opinons! Seems like these people all just decided to give them! LOL! One neighbor lady popped by when I was working out and that brought on the attack, and the next neighbor lady came right after and said the same things as the first---totally un asked for! But I dont mind---USUALLY! LOL!

I am NOT unhealthy thin! Thank you for reminding me of that!

XOXOXO!

Interestingly enough I have found its mostly fatties that tell me not to loose any more weight. One fat mole I know told me not to loose any more and I told her that I would promise not to loose any more if she promised not to get any fatter.

Last time I saw her she was massive. Looks like she couldnt hold her part of the bargain. HAHA Sucked!

And you had surgery I guess because you were thin to begin with??? To make someone who is struggling with the same thing you have is unkind and cruel.

14 pounds lost before surgery. My first ticker is when I hit onderland: this was my goal when I started on this journey.  I want to focus on that right now...once I get there I can reevaluate.

My second ticker is my dream goal. Even if I only visit there for a short time, it would be nice to see that number just once.  I am pretty sure I'll need plastics to hit this goal.

I became fed up with her telling me I am too thin and looking like a junkie.  She was unkind and cruel to me, so I gave it straight back to her.
As a fat person I was always riddiculed, and now I have lost weight its happening again.
Dammed if we do and dammed if we dont.
I think you will find there are several people here on this website that are told by "well wishers" that they should stop loosing as they look too thin.
It wears thin after a while having people making negative and personal remarks on your weight loss.
