Denial: It ain't just a river in Egypt

Do you really think it is ridiculous? Do you really think someone is going to feel comfortable being open and vulnerable knowing the level of vitrol that is possible?

And Elizabeth, who gets to decide who has been a 'pig ignorant' whatever? You? So, being accepted and welcomed into the DS forum is determined by how you (or Diana or someone else) feels about me? And if you don't 'like' me, does that mean I would not be welcome on that board? Has the DS board become YOUR board?

I wish that everyone who is responding here would consider the potential impact on those who are seeking information and wanting to learn. What is ridiculous is the level of hostility, the immature name-calling and derision that is being shown in this thread. The attitude here is not one of helping anyone, or informing anyone -- it is of judging, being disrespectful, underlying anger, and unkindness. Is that truly who you are?

If you haven't acted like a pig ignorant asshole elsewhere, you'll get welcomed with open arms.

If you're friendly, that won't be a problem. Come on over, one and all. See how we treat a newbie. We're downright kind. Visiting each other in the hospital, taking up collections for families in need, calling each other on the phone, etc.

In fact, I invite all of you, but especially the ones who think we're mean, to come and lurk on the DS board. You'll see how nice we truly are and you may learn something useful.

I am scheduled for my VSG on March 10.  I have a master's degree in nursing and I am working on my doctorate.  I am not stupid by any means and I am very well trained in reading research studies.  I have also taken a graduate level stats class that does explain that researchers can make the numbers look anyway they want to with a little manipulation.  But, that isn't the point of this post.

I chose the VSG after researching my options and speaking with my surgeon-who does all of the procedures.  I chose it after talking with my family and deciding what was right FOR ME.  I chose it because I felt it was best for my lifestyle and my goals.  I am glad you are happy with your surgery and want other people to feel the same way.  However, your approach is a little obnoxious.  I have not spent much time on this website because everytime I am on here, I read negative comments from people and I can't figure out how this is helping anyone.  I am sure other newbies feel that way as well (as some of the "oldtimers" probably do).  Honestly, if you are trying to get people to look into the DS, you might want to approach it in a different manner.  Everyone is entitle to their opinion but name calling and the use of foul language is not very mature or intelligent.  Please respect that we must all make our decisions by ourself in the long run and that you are not helping people.

As an aside -- from what I have seen, most on the VSG board will tell those seeking info (especially those with a higher BMI) to consider the DS, and to research that procedure before making their decision. We are not trying to 'bamboozle' anyone into a VSG.

Oh -- and it's great that you have lots of people joining the DS board. Just so you know, though, we have lots of new folks on the VSG board, too. I'm sure the LapBand and RNY forums are doing well also. Nothing unusual in that.

Cimmaryn-  Wow, your wt loss is great.  Definitely an inspiration for pre-ops who like a little positive information on their chosen procedure!!  :)

Thanks, khargis. I am thinking that I will make 100 pounds by my 6 month anniversary. That's my goal, anyway! :)
