Nothing to do with their chosen surgery...there are some people on that board who are just plain old *****e-s.

Pity you. Our "*****iness" would be why we see new people deciding daily on the DS, and the vast majority of them point to a thread just like this one as what originally got their attention and told them there was another option.

No need to pity me.  I make my decisions based on information given to me by my DOCTOR, not some message board.  He (and the other doctors at Lenox Hill) perform the DS and are actually big proponents of it for SMO patients -- which is not me.  Working together, examining MY eating habits and history and lifestyle, we decided that the sleeve made the most sense FOR ME.  Me and my doctor.  You know, the one with the medical degree.

FYI: Post in which people rejoiced in the DSers posting about the DS on other boards, including the "surgery wars":
http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/DS/board_id,5357/cat_id,49 57/topic_id,3484967/a,messageboard/action,replies/#27246458

These posts get lots of reads, and thus lots of information gets disseminated.

And anyone who would deliberately blind themselves to learning about a surgery because they don't like the "tone" of some who have that surgery and post about it, deserve what they get.  They probably weren't up to the minimal mental requirements of doing well with the DS, and we don't want them or their lousy results befouling our statistics.

You come off as a weirdly obsessed fanatic, like a sports fan whose whole identity is wrapped up in their team.   It's cult-like and disconcerting.  You're also a *****  I go to my doctor for medical information...not freakish denizens of WLS message boards.  My doctor and I settled on the VSG as the best choice for me, given my BMI, health history and eating habits.  Why that seems so personally offensive to you is beyond me, but it you might want to bring it up with your therapist next time.

And you come off as weirdly and deliberately ignorant and determined to allow a surgeon who doesn't have your best interests at heart, but rather his own (based on what his surgical skills are limited to), make a life-altering decision for you.  Congrats -- you're gonna get what you deserve.

LOL ok now I know you're just in it for the drama.  My surgeon is Dr. Yatco at Lenox Hill Hospital.  He performs DSs regularly (in one surgery) and is a proponent of it -- but not for EVERYONE.  My initial seminar and first meeting at Lenox Hill was with Dr. Roslin - who is listed on www.duodenalswitch.com as a DS surgeon...maybe you've heard of him, he did Al Roker's RNY.  I'm pretty comfortable with their level of surgical skill.  He also does not recommend the DS for everyone, particularly those without super high BMIs (mine is 40.)

Are you telling me that YOU know what's better for me than those two doctors?  That DS is the right surgery for everyone?  That only you and your merry band know the Truth?  Don't look now, but your complex is showing!

Roslin yes, Yatco -- I have NEVER heard of him doing a DS.  And if he doesn't recommend the DS for people with BMIs under 50, I'd say that's pretty damned sad.  There are LOTS AND LOTS of happy DSers who started out as "lightweights."
