RNY on 08/08/12
I don't remember the name I think it was morphine, I did have some pain, til I got drugged up, they put me on a morphine pump.

Overall I have been through worse pain, for me it was mental. My the next day I was IV pain medication, then pills.

I had some complications of swelling.

So i was in the hospital a total 4 days.

Had RNY on 8/8/2012- revision from Gastric sleeve in 12/2008-

Well, I woke up with a lot of pain that actually prevented me from breathing, but they started up the morphine as soon as they saw I was cognizant and it really took care of the pain, allowing me to breathe. After that I didn't have any problems until my IV messed up and they had to take it out and put me on loretab, which was also a great help. It's major surgery so it's probably going to hurt, but I've seen a lot of people post on this board about how they were back in action after a few days (which unfortunately didn't happen in my case*). Good luck.

Thanks. Honestly right now I'm just working on getting in enough liquids and a few calories and starting back on exercise and vitamins (my multi keeps making me sick). I'm sure you'll do well if you just follow your surgeon's instructions : )

I told my surgeon that I had a low tolerance for pain and he assured me I would have enough meds that I would not be hurting.  He was right and I had no problem.  I had surgery on Thursday and went home on Saturday with pain meds.  I took them about every 6 hours that day and only needed to  1 Sunday morning.  After that I had no problem with pain.  I drove to Wal-Mart Monday, and Tuesday I went and got my nails done.

Hopefully you won't have any pain that can't be resolved quickly.  A heating pad is great for the soreness in your belly.

Oh yeah, I hardly remember being in the hospital, so I had some good stuff. LOL

Ask all the questions you want... someone will always try to answer.

Honestly there was some pain, but if you keep on your meds you will be fine.  My Dr. does the sleeve as an out patient, so I went home that day and just slept and took my meds every 2 hours.  My Dr. had me take the liquid pain meds and break it into 2 doses because it covered the pain better.  I didn't need to take my pain meds after a couple days.  Had surgery Friday and stopped on Sunday.  The only time I took them after that was to sleep.  Sleeping can be uncomfortable.  I used a pillow and laid on my side.  The left side was more tender since the Dr. removed the stomach through that side.    Th pillow gave my stomach support.  Some people will sleep in recliners for the first few days, but I didn't find that necessary.  Just remember to get lots of rest and let your body heal.  If you rush, you will take longer to heal.  I picked up my 25 lb nephew to early and had incisional pain for a week after that.  Good luck.

Thanks so much for the info...since I kinda been there...I'm just scared for the fact that the band was pretty easy...and the fact that they are taking it out and doing the sleeve at once...I'm suppose to be there 1 night..I'm paying cash..so i hope so...hate to think what an additional night would cost outa pocket..at least i don't have to worry at that point..cause what is done is done...so they will have to bill me the rest then ..Thanks for all your info...you guys are just as nice as the Lapbanders...i just found my new home..Thanks and have a great night
