I paid $9500 with Dr. Aceves in Mexicali, Mexico.  As an R.N., I can tell you that the care I received was better than any I have ever received in the U.S.   The hospital is modern and spotless.  I highly recommend it.  If you want more info, please feel free to PM me or read my first blog entry on my profile.

Ditto Lise. :) I used Dr. Aceves and paid $9500 and then $700 for 2 airfares. It was WONDERFUL. I totally recommend him and his staff. Feel free to email me. Also if you live somewhere where there is a Southwest Airlines Terminal you can get HUGELY cheap flights to San Diego. I didn't - so my tickets were $350ish a piece but I flew from a regional airpot to DFW then direct to San Diego.

I paid my surgeon $7k, and the hospital charge $16K.  all of the pre op testing was extra.  I spent about $25K all together, but well worth every penny!

I also used Dr. Aceves for $9500.  Airfare from DFW to San Diego was $214 on US Airways(hotwire).  I have heard that a dr. in Louisana is only $9300, witha 1-night hospital stay, then he wants you to stay in a local hotel for another night.  I decided on Dr. Aceves because of his experience, stats, record of NO leaks, and 3-night hospital stay with pretty extensive testing.  My DH and I were VERY impressed with the care I received there.

Check into ObesityGoodbye.com in Mexico...they speak English.  I had a very good experience there with very experienced competent doctors and the price just weeks ago was $8,000 for EVERYTHING!  They take VERY GOOD care of you.  I am still in constant communication with the doctors there and they answer all questions promptly and have never charged me anymore for anything, not even my 1st check-up at one month that included a fluoroscope test.  I highly recommend them.  They also have an American patient coordinator who lives there and helps patients at their clinic...PM me if you would like her phone number and I will put you in contact with her.  She can also answer any questions you might have and is a tremendous support for this experience and surgery.

I paid $16980 with LapSF. Mine was less than some that use LapSF because I had my psych consult and NUT consult paid for by my insurance, plus they paid for my stomach biopsy afterwards.

I don't know!  Got mine done in a specialist private hospital in the UK, but it was paid for by the National Health Service here.  Having said all that, I was very lucky, because the NHS rarely pays for this - my GP was a star in getting it for me.
