OT: would you date a man who's 40 lbs overweight?

Now that we're all so svelt and full of ourselves, would you date a man who was 40 lbs or so overweight.  Well I am, and I'm not so sure about the belly thing.  He is 6 foot tall, handsome, smart, whitty, has a good job, owns home, rv, atv's, kayak, single dad and I guess most importantly he likes me, lots.

It's just that when I see him in all his glory I kind of get slightly turned off just a little (don't hate me I'm just being honest) also has a bit of a double chin.  I'm just asking your opinion because he's starting to get serious with me and wanting to meet my children and such.....

What do you guys think.....be brutal, I can take it.

Kinda like this guy....chubby-men-nakeda by BearLove4U

My opinion is....that what matters is how he treats you....If he treats you and your children good...then his outward appearance should not matter.  Plus, you could always help him getting off those extra pounds...

I agree, as long as he treats you well, that is what is important.  I would hate to think someone wouldn't want to date me (if I was dating, that is) because I was overweight.  Certainly, after he spends time with you, some (or all) of your good habits will rub off....Good Luck!

Suzi, you are joking right? Have you been single long? If his omly major flaw is that extra 40 pounds I tell you what you got yourself a keeper. All that really matters is that he treats you right, he is stable, working, and is a good dad to his kids. Also GF, you can help him get rid of that extra 40 in a number of personal one on one workouts in the bedroom. And if that doesn't work, what the hell at least your getting some. It has been so long for me I have forgotten how to do it. And really if your passing him up, please ship him to Oregon. I could get a great deal of money for a man of such quality here in the boonies. I mean come on, he has all his teeth right? Sounds like a keeper to me.

You're pretty funny down there in Oregon.  I know, I sound shallow but I'm telling you now that we have put so much effort on ourselves with surgeries and money spent....I'm just saying.  OK, ok he also has this kind of cro magnum forehead thing going on.....

Sir Anthony Hopkins by zat_asyraff kind of like Sir Anthony Hopkins but more exaggerated.

I think about these superficial looks things once and a while but then when I see him I'm not disgusted or anything and I find myself still smiling goofy like at him but it's just not like the hunka hunka burning kind of feeling.

Anyways, I thought they grew them tall, muscular, hard working and handsome as all heck in Oregon.  You know the Paul Bunyon type, hanging out in the woods and eating mushrooms.  This guy is getting real serious about me and I don't want to ever wonder what else is out there?  Just being honest and asking for a girl's opinion.

Hi - sorry to seem picky - but I think if you don't think he's attractive, then it's hard to be "with him" ...sometimes you can still be attracted to someone even when he's overweight, old, bald, etc...but if you see him as a big bellied, big foreheaded guy who is really nice ...it won't work - don't settle - you don't have to - wait for the guy who rings your bells.  Example - I still think John Travolta is hot even when he is overweight and has balding gray hair.....

BTW; the guy in the photo is kind of cute. If it is a major issue for you though get a gym member ship in addition to the personal one on ones in the bedroom and motivate him to lose those 40 with a change in diet and fitness.

OMG, he's only 40 lbs overweight. That's not that bad. Seriously, imagine if someone said that to you...78 lbs ago! That's almost double the lbs!!

Does he treat you good? Thats what should matter most.

I think if he were the right guy, you'd be into him despite all of that.

I'm guessing he's not the right guy.

You aren't required to date someone just because they have some objectively good things about them and they like you.  Love is subjective - sure, give him a chance because he's a nice guy, but if that gut feeling doesn't develop, move on.
