2014 Can you FREAKIN choke that down !!
In order to get your VSG here in my home province of Nova Scotia..... Canada, you will be waiting until AT LEAST.......2014.
Can you say..............SELF PAY !!
Christ on a Cracker.....isn't that nuts??
I think we should be going the way of Ontario, and providing an out-of-province alternative!
Just sayin.

I don't know about new, my girlfriend had weight loss surgery in Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1989 and is still doing really well. Dr. MacDonald retired 5 years ago so really we have only been 5 years without a surgeon. And all was covered by MSI (our provincial medical plan)
On the bright side, quite a few patients have been having their surgery since April 2008 (when the clinic re-opened) and although the list keeps growning, more and more surgeries are being done.
Just trying to stay positive.

Hey, at least it's an option! For people who can't afford self-pay, getting the surgery in 4-5 years is at least a light at the end of the tunnel. Here in the US, they'd have to deal with never being able to get the surgery at all. Not 2009, not 2014, nothing.
Plus, here's the thing that is so much better for you Canadians. If you have complications and have to go to the ER, your care is covered. You won't have to file bankruptcy if you end up in the hospital for weeks.

Yes, I agree, you are absolutely right. My sister passed away in January and the drugs she was taking for her cancer costed her $2000 per month and it was all paid for by medicare.
Who can complain about that. So waiting for WLS, even if it is a few years, is still worth it to most blue collar workers who cannot affort to self pay. Also, if you have skin that breaks down after surgery, then the plastics are all covered also.
I like to remain positive about how lucky we are here. If I dwelled on the negative, my life would hover with a dark cloud. I don't have time for that.
Thanks for displaying your positivity.
Cheers, Sugarbear
