I never realized how many food commericals are on TV until now. . .
Day 6 of 14 pre-surgery liquid diet. Was folding laundry and watching TV and it felt like every other commercial was food-related. Makes you realize how "programmed" your mind can be to do late night eating/mindless eating.
I do freely admit though that I was silently cursing that dairy queen commercial where the guy shares his chicken with the dog. (And the dog whines for the sauce). I'm thinking here I am drinking liquids for a total of 4 weeks and there's a &%@#% dog on TV eating chicken.
Ha!

Ha!

I know!! My NUT and our Nurse coordinator even said to us in our pre-surgery meetings to try and stay away from TV for a bit during recovery since there are so many food ads; I mute them and look away if it really feels like I am having a bad day ---- I still love cruising through the Food Network Channel though!
I just mute the commercials and if the program is on the DVR then I fast forward through them.
Post surgery the commercials will not be so bothersome because you're not going to be as interested in food. Losing weight and feeling better replaces the cravings for junk food. Most days I have to remind myself to eat because I'm not focused on food like I was prior to surgery.
Good luck,
George
