Complications after Gastric Sleeve Surgery
I have many of the same issues...since I woke up from surgery I have reflux terribly. I haven't laid down to sleep but a handful of times in approx. 6 weeks. I had reflux issues prior but I am sure I read 85% of patients it goes away after surgery. WHY do I always seem to fall in the exception rule-?? I have throw up every day since I went on solid foods....and if I drink anymore broth I will hurl that as well.
I have been guilty of over eating a bit...and thrown up BUT the majority is from...well I don't know. My doctor seem like he doesn't know either...I think hes full of it. He gave me Reglan-which it did help but had my RLS going crazy!
I could use some piece of mind that this isn't the way its gonna be.
Thanks

I also have many issues with reflux. I had gastric sleeve surgery 11 weeks ago and have lost 57 lbs so far. However, I haven't been able to lay down in the bed or even recline all the way in a recliner. On the few occasions that I have tried to do this, I wake up throwing up. My surgeon told me that he isn't sure when or if this will go away. I would love to hear from others who may have/had this problem, and if there is any hope that this situation will improve on its own.
I also have trouble realizing when enough food is enough and not too much. Usually I realize it about after one bite too many. then I am sick for several hours or if I am lucky, I throw up and the pain goes away. My surgeon told me that the gastric sleeve is abnormally small in my stomach and I can only take in about 1/2 of what most people can eat. I usually can eat one bite of chicken or 2 TBL of mashed potatoes at one sitting. I don't have trouble drinking. Maybe I should just stay on a liquid diet, but if so, then how will I ever get to the point of being able to eat again?
I would appreciate hearing from people who are experiencing similar issues.
Hi my name is Amber, I seen your post and I was wondering if you can advise how you are doing to date? I see it says you had your surgery some time back in 2010. So iI was hoping that you would give an update as to how things are now, if they subsided or how things ended up? I am planning on having the sleeve done and am trying to gain as much info from as many people as I can get.
TIA Amber

I had my surgery on 7/29 and my dr put me on clear protein liquids 48 oz + a day. 2nd week I can have protein shakes. 3rd week I can have puree foods or baby food. He slowly introduces you to food. Before eating food I have to take a liquid anti-acid.
I take fiber gummy bears and have for the last year. it took me 5 days and of course my stomach is torn up from all the water. Try walking alot and see if that gets your bowels moving.
My first weigh in is on Mondays so I'm not sure how much I've lost yet. I am sure it's 5 lbs or so. I hope this has helped you.
do you have a blog? I have a blog if you want to follow me too.
