ruptured internal sutures??

Hello,

I'm 3 weeks out. This morning I was helping my daughter put on her zip up boots. The zipper was stuck so I was straining  to get the zipper up.  I bent down, put the shoe on her foot and started to zip and I felt a "pop pop pop pop" on the lower left part of my abdomen (behind the largest suture...you know, the one they pull your stomach out of).   It felt like I had tight pare of jeans on and the  button popped open.  I felt immediate pain, and had to  apply pressure to relieve the sting and the feeling of pulled muscles.  Because I had no idea what happened, I felt that it was better to be safe than sorry (for all I knew I could have been bleeding internally)  So I calmly  called 911.

At the hospital they made me drink the nasty contrast stuff and injected me with that warm, fuzzy contrast.  Everything appeared to be fine.  No blood, no leaks or ruptures.  All organs are in place and no obstructions. The E.R.  doc agreed that maybe the sutures popped, but I was healed enough  that thankfully nothing "spilled" out.

Has anyone ever experienced this?

As a matter of fact I did!  Also at around 2 1/2 or 3 weeks out too!

Kinda of a long explanation, but to understand why I did what I did, here's what happened:

Post-op I was having more trouble getting comfortable in my less than two year old craftsman style recliners which were way too big for me, actually too big for my 6' husband! (Like some shoes, they were so comfy in the store but once I got them home I realized how uncomfortable they were!)  Anyway, I'd been wanting to replace them and now that even with pillows propping me, I finally gave them to my step-sons and got back my old recliner I'd given to my daugther (she never used it****il I could go shopping for another pair.

But  I'd forgotten how hard it was to get out of that Lazboy recliner I'd bought in 2002 for my hysterctomy (knew I wouldn't be able to sleep in bed) and that from sitting in it sideways so often before I'd moved, she'd loosened the arms - hence why I'd left it with her and bought new furniture when I moved!

As with the craftsman recliners, I was at  first trying to just lower my legs with pushing down and back.  But that wasn't working and so I leaned over the right side and grabbed the lever (why are they so low anyway?)  and I was pulling and pulling while leaning over and trying to push my legs down at same time.... and... POW!  It felt liked I'd been stabbed!  (I didn't actually hear anything though!)

How STUPID could I be?  What was I thinking?  I wasn't!!  But, damage done now to determine how much!

I called my surgeon and he had me come in that afternoon and asked me several questions and determined quickly I hadn't popped the stomach stapling... but an inscision internal stitch.  He said it will hurt for about another week to 10 days on and off but not to worry unless it got swollen or bruising started.

And he was right... It hurt when using stomach muscles, just like when I first had the surgery for a little over a week.

**Edited to add that yes, I have replaced them with new LaZBoy recliners that are a dream!  Why did I wait so long to replace those gigantic recliners???
