Did you ever want a divorce from your sleeve?
I think of the sleeve as a marriage where divorce is literally not an option. Like marriage, you never really know what it is going to be like until you have done the deed. After you got "sleeved" did you ever wish you could go back in time and undo the surgery? If so do you still feel this way sometimes?
I am really impressed at how many of you say you love your sleeve. Is it due to having a great attitude, on your part? Do you feel like you are a prisoner to it? Did/Do you ever want to divorce your sleeve?
Thanks,
Renee

This is a good question. I havent had my sleeve long enough to know, bout a month. It gets hard some times knowing I cant have a few beers with the guys, and that I will most likely never have a "few" beers with the guys. Starts to make me wonder if it was worth it. Then again I think well I'd be dead in 10 years without it most likely. I kinda got the attitude that we only got one shot at life, do i want to shorten mine by being fat and enjoying food, or do I want to live a long life and enjoy living with my family healthy. I think it was the best decision of my life. I know me, and I know I never would of done the right thing, I woulda ate and drank myself to death.
Bubba if it makes you feel better you WILL be able to have a couple beers will the guys. Wait till you are 6-12 months out before you do but it is something to me like everything else. Moderation is the key. I have a margerita or 2 about once a week with no ill affects. I just have to watch because they are so full of carbs.

I had to sign out to look, cause I blocked that guy for starting political wars. but with his starting weight, dont you think its a bit irresponsiable to tell him that he should be fine to drink beers with the guys ever, let alone in 6 months? I started drinking wine at about a year and it really has slowed my weight loss. Luckily I am at goal, so I do it in moderation. but heavyweights have a different course then lightweights. Carbonation is bad for a sleeve...until PROVEN otherwise. And 6 months? He should be much closer to goal then he is likely going to be at 6 months. Its just a different ball game for us bigger starting weights. We have more regain, we have to stay on program much longer, and usually have bigger lifestyle issues to address.
I guess we are all different on this issue, I had a glass of wine a month out of sugery at a wedding But that was my choice. I do not think you should have it all the time but there are qute a few people here who do and are fine with it. Men especially lose weight extreemly well and can tolerate MUCH more than women can and keep it off due to the large amount of muscle mass that they have. I had the sleeve to be as normal as possible in what I eat. There is literally NOTHING that I can not have. Now there are a lot of things that I can not have every day but that is my own opinion. That is what I feel the board is for, we get a lot of opinions and decide what is best for us. I do drink diet drinks but I know some think they are evil. I am sorry if I offended you but I am just offering my opinion of life after the sleeve.

Love the question...!
I'm approaching 3 years now and whilst I occasional miss being 'free', there are some bonuses..
I'm alive...!
I'm skinny..!
Have an incredible life doing things I never imagined being able to do.
Some minor gripes, still on anti-acid, some left over skin and not enough hours in the day for my new life.
So, do I want a divorce from my supermodel wife... errrr hell no

not divorce it per se but every once in a whille I would love to have a full meal that includes a meat, rice, and a veggie....by the time i get done the meet, and a bite or two of veggie, no way in heck am i getting any rice down....and i am over a year out....had my vsg 2/11/09I think it's important to be mentally satisfied too.
Of course, I never ate much rice even pre-op so I wouldn't be sad about missing that.
