I had my surgury on August 28..I had the exact same symptoms as you..I also had severe nausua, I could not swollow my own spit..Just start walking immediatly.. Hicups stayed with me for about 4 days......My nurse told me upon leaving to swallow that spit, it will get you used to it, and it does work.

Hi, I had the difficult swallowing problem for 2 days. I know what you mean that you feel like something is stuck even when swallowing saliva. I had my surgery last Thursday at 11 am and that afternoon and all the next day I could not swallow. It hurt so bad. But by Saturday, I was able to get 20 oz of water down before I left at 11 am. They wouldn't let me go otherwise. Once I got home and slept a night in my own bed and without being interrupted every 2 hours to check pain levels and blood pressure, I felt 100% better. I think it must take a couple of days for the swelling to start going down. Hang in there. It WILL get better!
