4 Years Out

Yesterday was my 4 year surgiversary.  I am so excited and I feel great.  I just want to encourage all new sleevers to keep up the good work and just know that this surgery does work and is very effective and life changing.

Thanks Lynn, I am one of those newbies, I'm 7 days out 2day. So far so good. But the head hunger is still something im working through. was it hard for you as a newbie? do you love love love ur sleeve?  what were ur weight loss results? OHHHHHH Congratulations on ur SUCCESS!!!

The head hunger lasts several months so you have a way to go.  (Sorry!)  Lol!  It was difficult at first but you get used to it.  I lost 125 pounds by December of 2007.  I have gained a few pounds but still wear the same size.  Thanks for the congratulory wishes.  I'm so excited

Did you ever get down to the weight you wanted to be? Does your sleeve still help you from overeating? Tell us all what it is like being sleeved for 4 yrs.

I'm going to be 6 months out in a few days and I'm still dealing with head hunger.



I'm down about 76 lbs and about 15-20 from goal. Weight is barely creeping off at this point.

that's really encouraging, are you slim now??
i mean do you lose all the extra weight or just most of it?


Cuz i understand that if you're having a gastric bypass you become a model but the sleeve makes u lose just most of the excess weight... it's very confusing when you're still choosing between both actually...

my surgery is due tomorrow, and im really hoping that i end this lifetime weight obsession for good after it!

I am slim compared to what I was.  I'm not a model by far but I could stand to lose about 20 more pounds.  I wouldn't want to lose too much more than that.

Just had to chime in and say that what you heard is patently untrue.  The weight loss between the sleeve and bypass is very similar, and there is greater chance of regain with RNY I believe, since the dumping is temporary (if you have it) and the pouch stretches (as can the stoma)... As for model standards and desires to look like one.. I know one, and she is ridiculously thin.. unhealthy thin.. as is the military makes her regularly see a nutritionist to try and gain weight... I am no where near a model.. but they are too damn skinny and lack curves anyway!  LOL
