Been feelin' a lil ick. I swear when ever its that time of the month Im so blah. What is this all about. Tired as all ******g hell man! I have yet to have a week where I lose nothing but the week of my period its alway one ******g pound.. seriously are you kidding?!?!! On the upside its done now so hopefully next week will be back to normal! I am dying to be in the 180s… 3 pounds away…. damnit! Another thing… I need some input from some vets here… some girl vets… unless there are menstruating men sleevers, if so feel free to weigh in. I have noticed I don't really eat during the week of my period. No interest in food and just wiped out. I have been doing two shakes a day all week with tons of water in between. If I think of it at lunch time ill have 5 almonds or half a cheese stick but for the most part Im really forcing it the week of my cycle. Anyone else ever feel this way? Do you think the reduced intake is whats making these low weight loss weeks?
Well I am off to refill this damn water jug.. Peace out...

Your body is busy trying to flush out the unused incubation funk, it needs a minute to get its bearings, get its job done.  Its just one of those things that is what it is.  I think too, generally because we are a bit wearier, we do not move around as much, oh we might *think* we do, but when you are bone weary, you can do stuff with a lot less umph to it than you usually do when you are feeling fine and dandy.  You will be where you wanna be, and soon, gotta be sweet to your body!

Its only doing as much as it can at once!

It's hormonal. I felt like a bag of ass early out during my period. But, I never didn't want to fill my sleeve with as much protein as I could because that's what made me feel best. I never used shakes so I can not relate at all there. I do know that when food became a bore, I overseasoned, got creative, and really just sucked it up and ate.

I also made sure I was staying on top of my vitamins especially my b12 during that time period because it made me feel more energetic. Now, I'm not saying I was bouncing off the walls like a chubby Tigger, but at least I wasn't assing the recliner for hours on end. As for the slow down on losing during that time period, again hormones, water weight, and yeah, it could be your lack of intake.

What did you use instead of the protein shakes if you don't mind my asking. I know cottage cheese and chicken that sort of thing are high in protein. Any info would be appreciated...Thanks ~Cheryl

I ate all my protein. Chicken/tuna/egg salads, refried beans with greek yogurt and cheese, chili, soft poached egg and cheese, ground meats with some sort of sauce be it tomato or cream based. I pretty much added plain non-fat greek yogurt to everything that I could. I never ate cottage cheese because I find it repulsive, but those the staples of my diet for  a couple of months. Oh, and deli meat with flavored cream cheese was easy for me to eat.

My goal was to eat 4 meals a day with a minimum of 15gr of protein per meal. That gave me the 60gr of protein per day.

I find the shakes to be repulsive and they make me bloat. There's something in them that bothers me, but I'm unsure what it is. I just don't feel to well after I drink them. So right from day one you went right on to solid proteins, but mashed them pureed them or what ever to be able to digest them. This is what I wanted to do too, but so many say no! I just am not keen on getting it through a powdered source when I have food options. What size of portions did you start with? Sorry for all the ?'s but I need to make sure I don't over do this.....Thanks so much for the info! ~Cheryl

OHhhhhhhhhhh good lordy NO, I was on clears for 17 days, and then full liquids for a week, and then I could move onto mushies. I was only able to eat 2-3oz per meal and it took me an hour to get in those portions.

I tried 22 different brands, flavors, and varieties of protein drinks/mixes/shakes. I developed a whey intolerance along with mild lactose intolerance, and you might be experiencing the same thing.

Unfortunately, I did not get my protein in until I was nearly 6 weeks out because I did have a leak, leak repair, anesthesia complications, and I didn't eat or drink ANYTHING for the first 20 something days post- my revision from the band. I was fed via a central line and a TPN bag of 1800 calories, nutrients, vitamins, medications, proteins once I was out of ICU after my complications.

Do not force food, you have a newly healing staple line. My leak was caused by the damage the band had done and I was just 2 days post-revision so I didn't do anything to cause the leak. I was still in the hospital. Anyways, a leak is pure hell, and right now try to find some of the unflavored to mix with full liquids, or try a soy protein, and mix it with water to see if you can tolerate them instead of the whey proteins. Whey is a milk product and a lot of us have issues with it post-vsg.

Thanks! I will get on that tonight. I'm going into the city this evening so I'll check out some soy protein instead. Both my boys are lactose intolerant, but never thought about myself. Ya! I would never get in all the protein required right now with solids. I'm just struggling with this shake stuff so I hope this is my answer. Thanks again! ~Cheryl

I wish I was that way about not wanting to eat. I have a couple more days and then I know the starvation monster is going to to kick in. It's so funny to use that word cuz I haven't been starving in a long time, but that's what I always called it. Last month wasn't too bad cuz I was so soon out of surgery. Hopefully this month wont be that bad either. Arrggh, men are so freaking lucky they don't have to deal with this hormonal bs...
