Superstition and nerves on high high alert. I feel like canceling because I have been switched from an AM appointment with a check in of 6am to the last one of the day at 4pm with a check in at noon. It is the one time slot I didn't want and statisically it isn't the best. I just want everything to go ok and work in my favor and this feels like it isn't. What should I do? BTW they can't reschedule till until mid May...

My time was changed so many times. Finally I was told to be there at noon and didn't have my surgery until almost 7pm. I worried too about being last and so late and the surgeon being tired, but all was well. I think I would say "Just get it over with" and begin your new life.

Wow, Really? 7pm I might pull out IV myself and run for it. Seriously I wish I wan't so terrfied. Had the surgeon been there all day?

When I got there at noon he was in surgery, I don't know for how long, then there was one before me, maybe 2, can't remember. I just knew I had to get it done, we don't live close to the hospital and had rearranged our schedules to be there on that day.  They told me the docs rest between surgeries.

I know every doc is different, but my surgeon told me they schedule his cases from "hardest" to "easiest".  I really wanted a morning appointment so I didn't have to be NPO all day, but considering I have no co-morbidities, I am the last case.

Why don't you call your surgeon's office and get some reassurance.  I know when I was scheduling mine, I was trying to get a particular date and was told I couldn't do it because my surgeon won't schedule more than 3 surgeries a day.  "Last one of the day" is just as late as the hospital will schedule the OR - it doesn't mean your surgeon has been in surgery all day.  I'd just go ahead with the surgery and stop looking for "signs."  If you look for them, you're sure to find them!
