Day 3 - ouchie!!

My surgery was Friday afternon, and I got home yesterday....  I equate my pain to "twice as bad as when I had my gallbladder out".  Per the surgeon, I am "very compacted in there", and I think they had to use a lot of gas to bloat me up.

I can live with this pain, and am so thankful it's getting better.  The one bad thing is that I had heard from so many people that they hadn't hurt much after surgery, and that the protein diet was the worst.  This was SO not the case for me!  I guess I might have had unrealistic expectations about the pain level- and I'm one of those people where if it's going to hurt, I'd like to know in advance, so that I'm prepared for it.

Overall, things are going pretty good.  My days are pretty much like this: sip, sip, sip, p, walk, sip, sip, sip, p... :)  I look forward to the days when I can walk a block without my side an shoulder hurting...

My third day was by far my worst!   Then, I turned a corner and it has been uphill from there.
Hope you get to feeling better soon!    Keep walking - the shoulder pain may be gas and walking helps!

Are you in MN?  If so we had the same doctor and I think we may have attended the same information session!  I had my surgery on 4/8.  The first day home was the worst, try some gas medicine, I think they have strips you can take.  It also helped me when I was lying down to have my feet up on a pillow or a blanket so that my tummy didn't feel so stretched out.  Good Luck!

Walking will absolutely help the gas pains!!  The shoulder pain is most likely trapped gas.  GasX strips will also help.  Congrats on joining us on the bench.
