Did you track foods in the beginning?

I am 1 week out today, and have not been tracking....
I know I am getting my protein in, I make 3 scoop protein shakes that give me 70 grams of protein that I sip on throughout the day,
that's not counting the isopure or cytomax I add to all water and unjury that I add to the little food I eat.
So, my question, how do you quantify how many calories are in the 2 teaspoons of something I eat?  I am inclined to just not worry about this for the first 2 weeks, until I start having more food... is this a bad mindset to be in?

I didn't trac****il I got to mushy/soft foods, and then I had a set meal plan, and schedule. Before then, it was sipping to survive and every little calorie helped with recovery. I didn't give 2 poops for the first 3.5 weeks post-op into my post-op diet. Hydration was my #1 priority.

I track everything I eat.  I use Fatsecret.com and when you put in the amount of whatever food it is, the system will do the math.  So if something is say 1 serving, you look at the product detail and it says one serving equals 1 cup.  So you ate 1 oz , you put in 1/8 serving and the system will determine the calories, fats, carbs, protein etc in that 1 oz.  Its the only way I can keep track of my carbs vs protein.  There are many trackers out there so you just have to figure out what works for you.

My first few weeks I was only worried about making sure I had fluids and protein drinks...when I started eating more I kept track.

I need to do that more now,  I am slipping at times and I never want to go back to my old life.  This one is too much fun.

I didn't track anything until I was on the mushy/soft food stage. I paid attention to 'about' how much protein was in whatever I was drinking but, I didn't worry about keeping track like I do now.

Before my surgery my doctor set me up on, Realize My Success.  It is by the people who produce the Realize Band.  BUT, anyone who has any kind of WLS can use it.

It has been a great aide in helping me keep track of everything from my fluids, my food, excerise, goals, weight loss and amount of calories used.

It has been a lifesaver for me.

If you feel like it track away, but in my humble opinion, at this stage your likely going to be doing all you can to get the protein and water in each day. I started tracking at my transition to solid foods (4 weeks).

after the first week, I found tracking very helpful.  I use MyFoodDiary, which is 9$ per month ,but
easy to set-up , use, you can track weight,  water consumption, vitamins, trends, etc.
I like it for water consumption and it helped me realize I was getting TOO MUCH calcium.

I was counting the calcium in my vitamins AND shakes and had to drop the calcium supplements

You do have to have a compulsive nature to use one successfully, I log on and keep track 3-4
times a day

Is the calcium in your shakes citrate or carbonate?
