Self conscious when eating in public :-(
Hang in there! I know what you are going through I had a work lunch at 3.5 weeks post op - I was on mushies at the time but I felt like I was under a microscope. I ate awkwardly and people noticed.
I still feel awkward at times, especially when dining out. I still order a beverage (pay for nothing) usually not tea which I don't touch. I tend to eat healthy appetizers and still don't finish bringing questions from wait staff "was your food alright". It seems I have a "big lunch" everytime I go out (my cover story).
Most of this is "my baggage" but it is very shocking when you realize that life seems to be all about food. Good news is - I socialize like crazy but I have to pick EAT or DRINK before every event since I can't mix the two.
It does get better and NORMAL -well you have a new normal that's all. On the positive side I hear what other people are saying since I am not uber focused on stuffing my face !

You will make it through this and it will be so worth it!! It is an adjustment figuring out how to order out. Remember that you did this for you and your well being. Try childrens portions if possible or just get a to go box. If it makes you feel better, tell the waiter that you aren't that hungry. Or don't worry about it. Best of wishes!
