Any other SELF-PAYING sleevers???
I'm an educator as well in the state of Florida. Our health insurance did not pay for the sleeve. So, alas I was a self-pay. I did not have to wait; I didn't have to beg insurance companies; I didn't have to go through endless classes. I just paid, met with the nut and psych and was good to go all within 2 weeks. I only paid 12.5K. Good Luck! It was the best decision ever!
My price also includes a year of follow up. I wondered how that works with other docs (the aftercare was one of the reasons I went with Ganta here in Austin)

I thank you all for your responses!!! I think that I'm somewhat knowledgeable about this surgery. I, too, have done extensive research for about 3 years now, and that's why I knew that having the sleeve opposed to being banned or having a bypass is MY BEST OPTION. The doctor was actually quite impressed with my knowledge of the surgery and the other options. I've also watched videos of it being performed so that I wouldn't be totally oblivious to the surgery process, and so that I'll know what's going on in my body!!!
I've just been reading all of the information about all of the classes those who have gone through insurance complanies have had to take, so I I figured that if we're paying the SAME AMOUNT, we should be availed the opportunity to take classes, etc...too!! Thus, feeling cheated!! LOL.
However, I'm excited about the process!! I have 19 more days to go!! JUNE 6 is my NEW BIRTHDAY!!!

I am an RN who works in education and our insurance told me they will never pay for it so I am going through Blisspay (that's who works with my Dr. I had to meet with NUT and Exercise physiologist and phychologist. My insurance did cover some of that as well as the preop lab. My Dr. is Greg Walton in Edmond OK. My surgery is 9995 plus 300 for 2 year followups. I have learned the most on here, you tube and ALSO my Dr. has all the info on youtube such as the nutritionist, exercise physiologist and psychologist. Go to you tube and look at WeightWise. All the videos are on there that give good info. Also Endobariatric has great informative vodeos that I watch regularly. Had I not already been familiar with my Dr., I would have gone to Dr. Alvarez. He seems very good as well. Good luck!!
I was self pay as well (in Mexico). Hubby paid for my surgery out of his tax free savings account. I'm happy with the research I've done prior to the surgery and the support I have around me for when I need information or an ear.
