SOOO. I cannot tolerate the vitamins that I spent $155.00 on. Nauseate me horribly, suggestions??? Certain specific, well known brand recommended by my Dr.

Try a bite of food before and after taking the vitamins - I find that multivitamins especially make me ill and often cause me to vomit if I take them on an empty stomach.

I buy Gummy Vites Multivitamins and B-12 sublinguals at Costco. They taste great, are well priced and have never made my stomach upset. The best part is that all my labs have been excellent with no deficiencies.

Good luck,
George

Lol, here's when differences between nut's comes out.. my nut said a big NO to the gummies.  Said they weren't 'complete' and your body can't pull everything out of them.  Oh well, as long as your levels are good, that's what matters :)

Also, are you taking all of your vitamins at the same time??  I know already that I get horrible nauseated if I take my multi in the morning, even with food.. but if I take it in the evening then I'm fine.  Maybe spreading them out over the day will help?

I'm almost 2 years post-op and have had blood work 8 times. They have all been excellent. I asked my doctor is I should take more vitamins and he said there was no good reason since my labs were excellent with no vitamin, nutrient or iron deficiency.

For the first 6 months I used Flintstones chewables and then switched to Gummy Vites.

I take 2 Gummy Vites and 1 B-12 sublingual every morning and have tolerated them well.

Nutritionist, like surgeons, will have varied opinions on pre-op and post-op care for the VSG.

I was just asking, because even with food in my stomach, I almost cannot chew them up to swallow them before the nausea starts. I have switched over to a high end multi vitamin and have been doing great. Thanks for the info.

EASIEST VITAMIN ROUTINE EVER:
I'm 65, nearing 6+ mos.post-op, and I've lost 135 lbs.  Not too shabby for the old geezer, eh?
I'm not a pill taker, especially since getting off all of my co-morbitiy drugs almost immediately following surgery.
But I needs 'dem vitamims, so  I use the NutraMetrix multi-vitamin & calcium ****tail.  I mix it first thing in the a.m. and, because it's "isotonic" (pre-digested - which sounds gross, but isn't) the absorbtion rate is 95% so, my little 8-oz. ****tail is all I need for the entire day.  (I put 3 capfulls of Calcium w/1 capful of Multivitamin.)
I also do a single sublingual Baratric Advantage B-12 every other day.  The only other pills I take these days are a baby-aspirin and 1 Orso daily for 6 mos. post-op (to prevent gallstones).

The mix is mango-citrus flavored and I think the taste is okay.  But I'm sold on the convenience(8 oz. water and 4 capfuls of the mix; stir, wait 5 min, and drink like juice) - and my lab numbers are perfect since I've been using it.  It sure beats having to remember to take a bunch of pills throughout the day.

For info on price/shipping, etc., Google nutraMetrix and Bariatric Advantage.  Not a commercial, just what's worked well for me.   Good Luck.
