I was trying to listen to my doctor and do the 1,200 a day for calories. I did it for a month lost 5 lbs but than stalled for a month.

I am back to eating 900 to 1,000 a day and the scale is moving again. My doctor keeps telling me if I do not eat 1,200 I will not loose weight my body will go in to starvation mode but all that i have been reading it does not do that.

I am staying at 900 or 1,000 a day from now on. I do not know why i stalled at the higher calories but I am threw with trying to make my self eat so much.

My surgeon gave me the tool. Now it is up to me to use it right.

Maybe 1200 will work later. For now, it doesn't. I read somewhere 800-900 for about a year- then increase to 1200.  Those are generalities. Like Mr. Rogers said, everyone is unique.

I am just going to tell my doctor I am eating 1,200 so he will stop with the starvation thing. I loose better at 900 a day and for the past 2 days at 900 I have lost 2lbs that is better than stalling.
My surgeon gave me the tool. Now it is up to me to use it right.

Like I say, practice selective hearing. Select what makes sense and dismiss all the rest. I'm convinced few doctors or NUT know much about nutrition, diet, and weight loss. All they know was learned in college. No telling what they were taught. Me? I avoid all white food. That includes sugar and most carbs. I feel better than I have in years and the weight is coming off nicely. My calories are way way WAY below 1,200. Never felt better.

My doctor's plan calls for 600-800 calories per day when losing weight. This is the plan I maintained and lost 100% of my excess weight with no stalls.

I'm on maintenance now and still average 800 calories per day. My plan calls for 1,200 calories per day when maintaining but that's just too much food for me. The good thing is that all my labs have been excellent with no deficiencies on my 800 calorie/day eating plan.

I also limit carbe to less than 40 grams per day. Carbs hurt me, cause me to feel hunger and regain so I happily continue to limit carbs.

I think the calories don't matter as much as the individual vitamins and nutrients. If you eat only 600 calories, but you get enough protein, fat, carbs and calcium, you will lose the weight. My nutritionist told me that if I don't get enough good fats in my diet, my body won't be able to absorb the protein and other vitamins.

Revision from sleeve to RNY is set for January 13, 2014.

My doctor just says get my protein grams and my water in ever day.  I asked about the fat and carbs. I was told we don't count calories or fat gr however it is best not to eat more than 4-6 grams of fat or carbs at any eating/meal. I am suppose to eat three meals plus two snacks.  I know when I exercise every day, I lose when I don't exercise every day, I either stay at the same weight or don't lose anything.
I don't eat bread or pasta.  I only eat a couple of protein bars a weekend as I just don't enjoy cooking.  If I haven't lost weight by Saturday morning, then I am most likely am not going to lose any weight that week for my weigh in on Monday or Tuesday.

I think each person needs to adjust for whatever it takes for them to lose weight.  Ladies, remember that we only lose weight about 3 weeks each month is what a doctor told me years ago.  Also, Dr. Oz says every 10 years after age 40, a person needs 100 calories less each day.  So, when you are as old as dirt like me, you may not need more than milk and bread! lol

Best Wishes to everyone,
Granny

Ehh starvation mode isn't going to happen until you deplete all of your fat stores ! ! ! Just do what works for your body, I lost and never stalled on 600-800 calories a day for 6.5 months, and starvation mode never kicked in. Literally, I never experienced a week where I didn't lose some weight. Well, except when I was right at goal, and didn't lose for like 10 days then bam woke up and had dropped several pounds to get below goal.
