I'm so sorry.  Have you sought help from Dr Alvarez or any other WLS professional?  Do you keep up with nutrition and bariatric nurse appointments?  I would think, between the two, they may have support to offer you.  I haven't lost my appetite either and I have to work like a DOG to get the weight off....but, it's coming off....slowly but surely.

What about turning all of your frustration into positive energy and pushing forward with small goals?  What are you eating in a day?  Drinking?  What do you take for medications and vitamins and what are you doing now for exercise?  Perhaps sharing these things will allow us to share some ideas and offers of help.  I don't think you have failed...maybe you just need a bit more help!

Dr. A does not have much to offer in the way of nutritional information, aside from the information we were originally given. He really is just the surgeon and aside from being sorry you are struggling, there is not much he can do.  She may have benefitted from having a nutritionist, except what she is saying is she has tried all the suggestions given and nothing is working, which just sort of smells metabolic, ya know?

*shrug*  Its a bummer.

Some of us just never do lose our hunger.  Ah well!  At least for me its not that panicked insanity it was before.

I am not so sure about post-surgery but definately presurgery I discovered that my body sometimes needed an INCREASE in calorie intake in order to begin losing again following stalls. Strange but true! I realize that we are all individuals and that means different from one another but try an online tracker along (I used Sparkspeople.com) with measuring your food intake and maybe it will help you find the correct balance in your diet to get you losing again. I love my sleeve, even when my progress seems to be none for weeks at a time...sometimes I have even gained a pound or two..again for no reason or due to salt intake.  When you look at my ticker, my progress looks great but about 35 pounds of my loss was presurgery. I hope you start seeing the scale moving again soon, meanwhile just enjoy the progress you have had so far, despite the fact that you would enjoy seeing greater results. BTW..I was also told by the 3 month follow up team that I should have been doing better but at 6 months they were suddenly happy with my slow results. Try not to let the judgement of others get you down.

Hi Lurknomore, I feel your pain, I am in the same boat as you so I know how frustrating it is. I get the same criticisms, calories in, calories out so I MUST be cheating. Nice. Great, might as well cheat since I am accused of it. No, I am not. I tried increasing, decreasing calories, protein, carbs, exercise, had a bod pod done, bariatric doc told me 60 grams protein/day, ok, did drop some on that, find out the total for the past 3 months tomorrow when I go in for a followup with him. Feel free to friend me on FB (Jody Hoch) or through OH and we can support each other without all these naysayers dragging us down.
Lucky you to get energy, I have ZIP, but blood work is fine, I still think there is something wrong, now have had a headache for three or more months so am working on that. We'll see. I'll share what I find out with you.

Thanks for the support.

I am not against anyone or mad at them for not understanding. Hell - I don't understand it myself.

If the tables were turned, I might suspect them of being dishonest or cheating.

I don't have to prove myself to anyone here. I know what I do and I know the truth.

I have to admit, I had unrealistic expectations. I based what I thought would be my success on other's success.

That was a huge mistake.

I do fight thoughts of...you're not losing anyway, so you might as well eat whatever you want.

I just feel better when I don't eat carbs, so I stick to the plan as much as I can. Perfect - nope.....but I think I do as good as anyone else.

Thanks for understanding. It does help to know I am not the ONLY one that is having this kind of issue.

Mayeb someday I can post and say...it finally worked...gotta keep hoping.

There's a member here, Teri (who I don't remember seeing around for a long time now!  Hmm) -- she would tell you to get tested for insulin resistance.  I don't know much about it other than what she's posted, but from what you're describing, I think there's a good chance you've got it.  It's more than a blood-sugar test, I know that... I think you should research it some and see if it sounds like something you might be dealing with, and if it does, get yourself tested specifically for insulin resistance, not just a fasting blood-sugar.

I hope you find some answers, there's GOT to be something keeping your body from letting the weight go.  Don't lose hope!!

(((hugs))) and I can see why you might not want to post too much... we all want this to work so bad that it can be hard ot hear from the fols who aren't having the success that we hope for with it.

I would like to thank you for your link to the blog.. I read a LOT of it.

I am pre op and I am going to see my surgeon for the first tiime in about an hour :-)  I am looking at surgery in the next month or so, as I have will have compleated all of my pre op stuff by next Wednesday.

I have PCOS and insulin resistance and now my pre diabeties has officially crept up to diabeties, though I don't need meds yet.  Plus high BP.

I have been able to loose weight pre op but only on super strick low carb.  I know the attitude that I get about doing that... and then I always stall... I've never made it below 220 ever... HW of 315, CW of 268.8...

I feel you pain... I believe that your not cheating!  I once religiously did a 1200 calorie "healthy diet for 3 solid months and lost 3-5 lbs dependingon the day and the location of the moon... it was a total let down.  I was doing EVERYTHING right and my body just wouldn't let it go :-(

I too hope that you can some way find the "key" to your body... or if nothing else, the key to being happy in the one that you are "stuck" in... even fat there are still amazing time to be had!

Thanks again for sharing!!!

Thanks for believing me.

At the end of the day, if I was lying, I am only lying to myself. That just wouldn't make sense.

I have a Dr. appt for some more bloodwork in a couple fo weeks. I plan to ask about being tested for Insuline resistance as receommended.

Thanks!
