Hi everyone!  I had surgery in April 2010.  I started at 354 lbs, size 32 jeans..5'5-1/4 inches tall, on med's for type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure.

Today I am still moving along on my journey..BUT..I am now 214 lbs, size 16 jeans..5'5 inches tall..and off all my med's for diabetes and high blood pressure and feeling fantastic!!

This journey is very much a mental/emotional one for me.  Most of the time I am very happy, and very ok with not eating certain foods I used to love before surgery, but there are days (not very often) that I have a tough time.  Just a few days ago I made my family homemade lasagna and garlic bread.  I don't eat pasta or bread..because both of those things just don't sit well on my stomach.  I am ok with this (what choice do I have..lol).  But this day, when they were all telling me how fantastic it tasted..I just had to ask them to please not go on and on about how great it is..I believe them..but I'm having a hard time right now.  They understood.  I actually shed a few tears in the kitchen (where noone could see)..then I was fine.  I am learning just how much of an emotional thing food can be to us.  Like I said..this doesn't happen often..thank goodness!

Anyhow..on to some pictures to help motivate someone out there who may be scanning for pics on here as I did many times as a preop.  I STILL love to see all the pics you all share!!

Here is my contribution...

Good luck to all of you just beginning this journey!!

You look great, and make yourself a side lasagna when you make one and use green leaves, spinach or something for the layers.

I started 8 lbs more than you and 4 months after you! You look amazing!!! Well done!

If you don't mind me asking, how is the skin? I'm noticing my thighs look like they are melting so I think plastics are in my future. How about you?

Thank You!  I don't mind anyone asking me any questions..i'm always an open book.  I will definitely need plastic surgery.  My husband just told me the other day that we'll take a loan from his 401k if we need to.  I'm obviously waiting until I've been at my goal for awhile before looking into it more.  My arms (bat-wings) bother me the most.  I want so badly to wear tank tops and sleeveless dresses..but my arms are horrible.  My stomach will need to be done also..and my inner thighs.  I would love to have the boobs lifted too..lol  I'm not sure what all we could afford to do, or how much I want to go through..BUT...the arms for sure!

WOW, what a tremendous difference! You are doing fantastic! You do look much, much younger, and that hot pink dress...wow, great color on you!

I agree next time, make a savory ricotta with a little tomato sauce, and cheese and you can enjoy the ingredients, just keep the pasta out of it. I'm glad your family was understanding. I know you said you don't feel sad very often, but when you do, just have a little chat with yourself about how you have broken free from the prison that your body had you in. That should always cheer you up!
