how long did it take your doctors office to submit your information to your insurance. Its been over two weeks and she lied telling me she DID submit it. She didn't. We called the insurance and they said they have received NOTHING.

UGH!!! This is sooo frustrating.

I definitely understand how you feel!!  I did all the pre-surgery testing requirements like they requested at the end of March.  (they said they wouldn't submit to my insurance until after I completed all this) So I waited until early April before I started calling my dr's office (figured I'd give them time for all the reports to be sent to them).  Left msg for the surgical coordinator...waited a few days and after no response, called again, and left more messages.  By mid-April I was so aggrevated.  I tried speaking to other people in the office and said I had to speak only to this one woman.  Finally got ahold of her, and said she didn't have ANY of my reports!!  I was like "how is that even possible, that everyone didn't fax my results???"  anyway, I refaxed all that I had - and called around to all the other places and had them refax.  I waited another week...she never called me.  I called her again, and left msgs for days....she wouldnt return my call.  Anyway - she finally called me back at the end of April, and she said that she still didn't have anything.  I was so pissed!!!  So I noticed that my surgeon's business card had his email address on it.  I sent him a very detailed email of exactly what had been happening and that I felt like I was being put on the back burner and I should have had surgery by now and how is it possible that my reports from all the different dr's were all not faxed TWICE!???!!  Anyway, I kid you not - 2 hours after I emailed him, his surg coordinator called me and said she just submitted to my insurance and that she would call me to set up a surgery date as soon as I got approved.  So 2 weeks later, I got approved (mid-May) and by June 6th I was finally sleeved!!  Sorry my post is so long-winded but I SOOOOO understand what you are going through.  Maybe you should do what I did and contact the surgeon directly -- :)
P.S.  .....   I love my surgeon!
Good luck!!!!

You are your best (and sometimes only) advocate. I made a real pest of myself calling the surgeon's office often and finding out what they needed to submit and then getting on it ASAP. Once it was submitted, I called the ins. company every day until I was approved (took a week). No one else is going to do this for you. If you are fired up to get this surgery, then light a fire under the office's butt!

I would call and request the office manager and explain that you were told it had been submitted but insurance hasn't received.  That should help give a sense of urgency to the staff who are neglecting their duties.

Okay, I just wrote this to the office manager....

Hi Carmen! I was wondering about insurance submittal. I sent my paperwork to you guys two weeks ago and today found out that insurance had not received the doctors supervised. As you can imagine, after waiting 6 months, I am anxious to get an answer from my insurance so I can know how to proceed. I know that it takes some time for you to review the paperwork, and that your office is quite busy, but I really need to plan my surgery. Do you guys mail it to them or email or fax? If, for some reason, insurance does not approve me, then I will probably be going to Mexico for the surgery, and am already checking into that option. My first option, of course, is Dr. Jawad and having insurance cover it.

I really appreciate your time in checking into this matter for me.
Thanks so much!
