Holy Spit! Has it really been 3 years?????
Congratulations, BR- and what a terrific story! I blamed my painful arthritic ankle on my colleg injury - 8 surgeries including 2 fusions after falling off a cliff - so I know what chronic pain is like. And I figured since my ankle hurt before I packed on all the extra weight, it was the DJD and not the weight causing all my pain. But now I am off NSAIDs except for the rare occasion, and can walk/run/climb- do so much more on land that was off limits to me before. You must feel like you have taken decades off the clock! My mom just had knee replacement surgery- she too is discovering the world of exercise at 76 after hobbling around for the last 20 years. It's true- sooner rather than later is the best way to do this be it WLS or total knee replacement. I might see you on Half Dome yet! Keep up the motivational posts! XOXOLori
Awesome post! Congrats on your three years, and it is good to see you around these parts.. I am glad you are doing all the things you want to do and just enjoying life to the fullest!
I am still loving life with my sleeve! Been maintaining at or below goal for over 4 years!
"People spend a lifetime searching for happiness; looking for peace. They chase idle dreams, addictions, religions, even other people, hoping to fill the emptiness that plagues them. The irony is the only place they ever needed to search was within." - Ramona L. Anderson
Good to see you too, Fawn- I still pop in occasionally and am grateful for all the help and support OH gave me early on and theough the past 3 years! You look terrific- fun, isn't it? For the first time in my entire life I feel attractive to my husband and confident when I go out. Sleeveless shirts are now my friend, as is fitted waist clothing- whoda thunk??? Be well- XOXOLori
Aloha Mary-
Start interviewing plastic surgeons now- mine does a neat thing where he takes photos of you at your highest weight, then serially as you lose, and on through plastics. They are then zipped together and the videos are amazing to see- I did not go for a consult til I was at goal and missed out on that part, it's pretty cool.
There are also lots of things you can do NOW to get your body in the best shape possible even though plastics are a year away- strengthening, weight training, CORE work- all leads to a faster recovery with a better outcome and minimal scarring- trust me you will want to be in the best shape of youre life before tackling that!
Good luck, keep it up! XOLori
