I hear you!!!  I saw my surgeon 2 weeks ago Wednesday and he said I should know by now... I called Wednseday and the girl who does it wasn't in.... Called yesterday and she said she ahd just sent it in that morning!!!  WTH!  She said there was a death in the doctors family and he'd been out the last week... I feel bad and all, but he assured me it would be sent in 2 weeks ago (beofre any one died) and said that a late June surgery date was looking good!  I am TOTALLY done with EVERYTHING else, and have been for 2 weeks!!!!

SO I have been trying to plan my life, child care and all, and now i have no idea. :-(

I like my doctor, but I have had NOTHING but toruble with everything admin/paperwork related :-(  It really shakes my confidence... not a great feeling at all.

I know what you mean.  I know several people with my exact same insurance that got their approvals and surgeries in a relatively short time.

I have been going to pre-op stuff since December and submitted request for surgery in early May.  I have been in a struggle with insurance and doctors office ever since trying to get pre-authorized.  It is frustrating.

If you don't hear anything back don't be bashful and get on the phone to them ASAP.  You know how you eventually try to swat the fly that keeps buzzing around you?  You want to be that fly.  If you cause enough buzz....eventually they make helping you a priority so you go away!

Insurance doesn't have to be that hard--a good admin team will make sure all the I's are dotted and the T's are crossed, and then bug the hell outta the insurance company when they take too long (GO DOMINGA!!) A bad admin team can screw you up royally. I was lucky with my team.

I was a little sneakily proactive, but turned out in my case I didn't have to be. As soon as my dr.'s office said they submitted the paperwork, I called the ins. company the next day to ask about the status. (i.e. to be sure it had been turned in) and they told me it would be 2 weeks although everyone on here says their aetna was a couple of days to a week. Not so in my case. Even with my surgical coordinator calling them every couple of days, they dragged their feet out till almost the last day. I think we might be in a busy season for them.

I'm sorry about that it sucks!!!..... I just got Approved 3 days ago and my doctor office took 1 week to send it (by mail) I kept calling the Insurance everyday!!! I did not care and they told me it was going to take 2/3 weeks I was a lil mad but I still called everyday and guess what it only took 4 days sooooo they tell you that but its probably going to be soon and make sure you call them everyday so YOU KNOW FIRST and you can tell your doctors office that its approved so they can give you a date because it might take them longer to get the paperwork  GOOD LUCK
