This post has some great info. Thanks for asking the question so we can all share.  I am only 8 months post op and can not imagine eating a 6" sub, mostly due to the bread.  I have eaten an A & W baby burger and that is about the maximum I could handle.  I normally try to avoid bread products because it fills me too much without much nutritional value.  I can eat about half of a small chicken wrap or a small taco. I can eat 6 ounces of homemade chili or 3-4 ounces of chicken breast with a small salad.  I also have to be very aware of my desire to graze in the evening and try to drink tea to keep myself full at that time of day.  Steak and roast beef are no longer my friends but I tolerate ground beef in any form just fine.

Such a helpful post!  I'm still impatiently awaiting my sleeve...21 more days!!  The only time in my life that the days passed more slowly were the days before my first child was born! lol

Thanks so much for everyone's input!

No way in hell I could eat that much.  I'm 2 1/2 years out and could probably do about half.  And I wouldn't dare try.  That's a bad road to take.  I never want to "test" my capacity to the limits.  I eat till comfortably content...3 ounces of dense meat, 1/3 cup veggies and a bite or 2 of fruit or other starch.  And yes, I still weigh and measure my food.

I'm nearly 11 months out, and since I'm still trying to lose weight, I haven't tried anything like a subway sandwich or anything similar. The worst I've done is eat lots of nuts and cheese. I've been able to eat 8 oz of cheese in one sitting, and about a cup or more of cashews (I know.. terrible and I try not to do this).

I have managed to eat 5 ounces of steak at one time but usually eat 4 ounces comfortably on most days. I can eat less of chicken or eggs as they really make my restriction kick in. Generally depending on the density of the food I can eat about a cup of food, so like 1 cup or maybe even 1.5 cups of something like soup, etc.

I do find I get hungry often so I try to eat every 3 hours and plan good meals. Here is what my plan is that seems to work well for me in terms of calories and being satisfied with my food:

8am: 2 cups coffee with almond milk
10am: 4oz beef
1pm: 4oz beef
4pm: 4oz beef
7pm: Veggies with yogurt
9pm: snack of either sprouted almonds or artichokes with bolani dipping sauce

Doing this I get my protein in earlier in the day and save the before-bed treats for when I need them.

What Frisco said.  I dont waste space on bread unless the POINT was the bread and then pass the butta and keep the meat!

Today I went out to lunch with a girlfriend and got a lunch portion of Happy Family, so shrimp, scallops, beef, chicken, some vegs, no rice. I ate all the meat and most of the vegs but left the broccoli, but it was also drippy in sauce, so that tends to make things slide down my gullet faster too.
