My surgeon's office told me that as of last month Premera Blue Cross no longer considers VSG investigational.  For those of you in the Seattle area, I highly recommend my surgeon in Edmonds.

It's true... they denied me at the end of April and I sent in my appeal letter with a ton of research documentation.  They overturned the denial (my surgeon told me I was the first he'd ever seen get a VSG approved through them) and in the letter they sent me, it said that they've reconsidered their stance and as of May 10th, they will consider the VSG an approved surgery.

So, I don't know if I can take partial credit, but I'd like to... good karma and all ;).

Oh, and if Edmonds is too far away, definitely check out Dr. Joseph Chebli... his office is in Seattle, just a bit north of downtown.  He's got 113 outstanding reviews on here and has won Seattle Magazine's Top Docs award for bariatric surgery  for the past 3 yrs in a row.  He works out of both Evergreen (Eastside) and Northwest (Seattle) Hospitals, so you have a choice depending on what's most convenient.  I wrote the most recent review on his profile, feel free to ping me with any questions.

Well I figured as soon as I got my surgery they'd approve it. Day late and $15,000. short. VSG 1/19/11.
