One month and 2 days later and I'M STILL ALIVE!!!
Hi OH Family!
Well, it's been a month since I ate that double whopper with cheese and fries from Burger King before my 24 hour pre surgery liquid diet! (And I enjoyed every bite! LOL) Well, on May 25th, a few days over a month ago, I changed my life and for the better! Thinking back, man, there is NO way I could eat 1/4 of that burger now! Amazing......
UPDATE!!! Well, I just got back from Houston, Tx, so that's why I'm late with my monthly report. But I must say that all is well!!! God is so good because I have not had any complications! I haven't had pain, and the fatigue is GONE! I feel 100% like AMANDA, except I can't EAT! LOL Oh, yeah, the restriction is definitely there! 3 bites and I feel like I've been at a buffet! I am four weeks out and the drinking is MUCH better. I can't gulp, but I can drink a fair amount at one time. I use a STRAW!! Yeah, I tried it, and it doesn't bother me, so I use one!
Right now, I've progressed to eggs and fresh fruit along with the mushy stage. I admit....I've tried some not so mushy foods, but I'd chew that stuff to almost nothing before swallowing it. What did I eat?? I've eaten some chicken and a little bit of meatloaf over the last few days. I'm not condoning my lack of self control, but just holding myself and my evil ways accountable. And on that note, I have a confession: I ate a few chips and some salsa this weekend...(yeah, I know.....I can feel the stares and the pointing fingers and the heads shaking and the rolling eyes.....) Well, I was rushing and ate too fast. I felt horrible for about 3 minutes.....and then............yup, it came right back up! That was my first experience of throwing up since surgery. LESSON LEARNED!! Eat what I'm supposed to eat and SLOW DOWN!!! I did have a small bite of a cookie this past weekend. That was the first time I had eaten something sweet since before surgery. I didn't dump! BUT, I'm not going to allow myself to fall into that trap of eating sweets just because it didn't hurt me! Honestly, it just didn't taste the same! It was too sweet! And honestly, sweets were never my problem. I wanted FOOD! Real food! LOL Hey, they do say taste buds change! Maybe mine are! (Now, if I could just change my taste in the men I've been choosing.....but THAT'S another story!) But for the most part, I've been following orders. Eating the cheese and some chili I made (turkey chili with beans) and TRYING to get all of my water in.....Yeah, still working on that too!
Anyway, no hunger. I do get that feeling inside that lets me know I should eat something, but I could literally go ALL DAY without eating and not realize it because I DON'T GET HUNGRY!
But to sum it up, I'm doing well. I have to have my blood work done, so I'm moving my doc appt to next week, so not sure how much I've lost, but I do sense a difference! Others are noticing too! I bought a few new pieces of clothing, and they are all a size smaller than my usual size!!!!!!! And the shirt I'm wearing now is a little bigger on me, so something is working! I do think I should be further along, but hey, that's my issue, not the sleeve's. So, I need to up the protein and up the exercising (been out of town for about a week and slacked off). So hopefully, by next week, I'll have some numbers for everyone! Until then, see ya, Losers!!

Only head shaking I did was up and down. Because I am right there with you. I have had some "risky" foods, ate too quickly, and "gave it back" quickly. No judging you here. I think we all have experienced/behave that way. If not, kudos's to those with all the will power. Maybe they should share some with me. Just because my belly is smaller doesn't mean my will power is greater. You are doing great Amanda! I am so excited for us!
I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me!
