Surgeon forcing new date at last minute
I was just contacted by my surgeon's assistant; my surgery was scheduled July 5th, she is now saying the hospital is making them delay it until July 7th.
I manage a really big research laboratory at work; I had to bend over backwards to get coverage and accountabilities in order (we have to be up 24/7). I even delayed the contract of a contract-worker to coincide with my original return to work. My fiance has also made his own arrangement and also had to jump through his own scheduling hoops. Our hotel in the city of the surgery doesn't want to release the initial deposit and wants to keep it in addition to the deposit of the new dates, and the pet sitter we set up can't cover these new dates.
I feel like I'm going crazy, having to move all my work and personal appointments around just to have to do it all over again! The contractor is already signed on contract; for the two extra days I'll be recuperating, she'll be billing my company two grand and I'm not going to be popular for that.
I can't believe their office was so cavalier to just send a little e-mail saying "a bit of bad news, we have to push the surgery back two days" like it's no big deal at all.
Ugh.

That really sucks and is very frustrating! The same thing happened to me. I got called 2 days before my scheduled surgery May 17th. It was the surgeon calling and he wanted to wait another 3 weeks before doing the surgery because of my last surgery (ercp with pancreatitis complication). It was really hard on me at first and I was so mad. My sister who is a nurse was coming out that weekend to help me after surgery and with the new date she was no longer able to come out for my surgery. It was really frustrating but I know that everything happens for a reason. Hopefully your work will understand.
