Hi! Just checking in and sharing some pics
I am 14 mths postop. I began this journey at 354 lbs and a size 32 jean in April 2010. Today I weigh 213 lbs and wear a size 16 jean and XL top. I am beyond thrilled with what the sleeve has done for me over this last year.
I remember being scared to death about having surgery. I kept having thoughts that if I would just give it one more try on my own..I was sure I could do it. Wrong. I could have never done this without having my sleeve. On the preop diet I was scared of what it would be like postop, because I had an awful time those two weeks trying to stick to the plan. I can honestly say that if I can do this, anyone can. I am so stubborn, so picky..impatient..BUT..I did it! I stuck w/all the preop appointments..amazing my family that I didn't give up! I didn't back out when I had the surgery date..and I pulled through those first 6 wks postop that were difficult for me. I think having a positive attitude definitely helps get you through.
I am thrilled w/my progress. I lost my first 100 lbs in 5 mths and 10 days, and I lost 132 lbs by 9 mths. As you can tell, the weightloss has slowed down for me now..having lost 141 lbs total in 14 mths...BUT..I haven't been working the plan like I should. I think I've gotten too comfortable..feeling so good at my current weight..that I haven't been concerned w/really pushing myself. I have a hard time seeing myself as being any smaller than the size 16 that I am right now. I have decided though that I am going to start pushing myself to really stick to the program (which really isn't too hard)..and see what this body can do. I don't want to waste this opportunity I have been given.
It's quite the ride!
Hoping these pictures help inspire some of you preops..I like to share them occasionally for those new to the boards, especially for those w/high BMI's like mine..I was 58.9.
this is me at the beginning at 354 lbs..all the way to today..213 lbs

i love doing this with the photo! I lined up my mouth and eyes with both photos..check it out!
That's me before surgery on the bottom..and today

CONGRATULATIONS! I am so glad to see your pics and to hear your story. I just had surgery Wednesday night and already feel like it's one of the best things I've ever done for myself. GOOD luck on your future endeavors and you look wonderful:)
